A new
Planet of the Apes movie is in the works, and it'll be the first of the classic Fox titles to get the redevelopment treatment since Disney’s acquisition of the studio.
Maze Runner filmmaker Wes Ball is reportedly on board to direct the project.
The iconic
Apes franchise was rebooted (although the movies also served as prequels) back in 2011 with
Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and the new trilogy wrapped-up in 2017's superb
War for the Planet of the Apes. Although there is plenty of room to continue the story,
THR is not sure whether this new film will be a follow-up or a full reboot.
Ball will also produce the movie with with his partner at Oddball Entertainment, Joe Hartwick.
That's all we have to go on for now, but we'll update if and when more details come our way. In the meantime, let us know what you think of this news in the comments.
