TERMINATOR Sequel Finds Its Leads In Colombian Actress Natalia Reyes & AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Gabriel Luna

Deadline is reporting that Paramount and Skydance's upcoming Terminator sequel has tapped Gabriel Luna (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) to star as the latest version of the titular time-traveling killing machine. The Hollywood Reporter adds that Columbian actress Natalia Reyes (Lady, La Vendedora de Rosas) has also joined the cast in a starring role as Dani, a young woman from a working-class class neighborhood in Mexico City who finds herself in the battle between humans and machines.

Tim Miller (Deadpool) is helming the upcoming project with James Cameron back onboard as a producer - his first time being directly involved in developing a sequel since 1991. The new film will serve as a direct sequel to Cameron's classic Terminator 2: Judgment Day and has already been confirmed to feature the returns of both Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton, who will headline the feature, reprising their iconic roles as the T-800 and Sarah Connor, respectively.

Reyes' character is being described as the Sarah Connor of the new trilogy while Luna's Terminator will presumably follow in Robert Patrick's footsteps as the villain. The pair will join fellow up-and-comers Mackenzie Davis (Blade Runner 2049) and Diego Boneta (Rock of Ages) as the new faces of the franchise moving forward.

The cast is expected to begin training for their physically demanding roles later this month with production expected to officially commence in May. The film is slated for a November 22, 2019 release date.

THis film just keeps getting more and more intriguing and as a massive Terminator fan I'm happy to see Luna as a Terminator, can see him channelling the T1000 a bit.
Read the Terminator books by S. M. Stirling which were sequels to T2 and the infiltration units were more normal people sized. Cannot wait

@SimplyAz - I hope this entire film is set in the future. The trilogy should focus on the future war against Skynet. And I hope we get to see some expansion on the various other Skynet machines. The T-900 for example would be awesome.

@HeavyMetal4Life -

That's what I want to see, with Humanaity on the brink and barely surviving fighting a war and then eventually smashing Skynets defense grid and winning, thanks to Skynet underestimating the Human Spirit........!!!

@HeavyMetal4Life -

Still looks amazing even now. Shows how great special effects were when they used a mixture of animatronics, models, and miniatures, rather than just CGI.

@Himura - I mean technically Terminator Salvation was set during the future. There was no time travel involved.

@SimplyAz - I predict whatever it is will be amazing. It's been almost a decade since Avatar and I'm sure Cameron has been advancing his tech the entire time.

While I'm not hyped for this yet, I am happy for Gabriel Luna. He was really good in SHIELD, so I'm glad he's getting some high-profile work.

Luna was great in Agents of SHIELD. There hasn't been a good terminator film since the 80's but with Tim Miller and James Cameron directly involved, maybe they can finally break the curse.

Here's hoping. I love the first two and enjoyed the Sarah Connors Chronicles.

Aww, shit. I was so over the Terminator franchise, and fine with it being that way. But with Miller directing and the cast looking intriguing thus far I'm suddenly starting to get a little interested in this movie.

The cast sounds good. New buddies for Arnie to hang out.

His agenda is gonna be very busy in the next months/years.

And the actress is very pretty.

Ah wait, so Gabriel Luna will be a new bad guy? I thought he'd be a good guy. Suits him more.

Well still congrats to him.
