Earlier today, the first X-Men: Dark Phoenix set pics presented Tye Sheridan in his new Cyclops duds, and here we see the young actor sporting a very different type of visor in the first official image from Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One.

Sheridan plays Wade Watts, AKA Parzival, who uses his VR visor and haptic gloves to "disappear into a realm where movies, cartoons, comic books, and TV shows from the good old days make life in 2045 more bearable."

The pic is actually packed full of easter eggs for fans of Ernest Cline's novel and pop culture in general, so click HERE for a detailed breakdown.

The book was great, I'm hoping Spielberg brings his A game for this one.

@MrDandy - The book was 80's fan wank garbage, but I'm hoping Spielberg makes a good movie. I want him to blow people away again with a blockbuster.

@BatmanxBatgirl - It was a futuristic treasure hunt novel with the 80's and the beginning of video game culture being the basis of the hunt and clues. So yes, it was a "fan wank" but in a clever way that narratively worked for the story being told.

Do casting agents just have a problem with Mr. Sheridan's eyes or something? The kid can't get away from visors.....

@kylo0607 - I guess you've never seen A.I., War of the Worlds or the last Indiana Jones film?

@Parker00 - Seen almost everything from Spielberg.

Love A.I, love War of the Worlds, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is an abomination of an Indiana Jones film, BUT works as a fun enjoyable ride on a Sunday afternoon. Loved it as a kid.

@Parker00 - War of the Worlds is so underrated. You should've said Minority Report.

@Parker00 - While I don't like those movies, there are more movies he's made that I consider classics, and I wouldn't push him aside just for a few movies I consider "misses".

Really looking forward to this, despite being set in a dystopian future it had a lot of 1980's culture incorporated into it, owing to the unique nature of the plot.
Looking forward to having music and movies that I grew up with mentioned.

@connorblaze - also Feige says MJ was just a gag reference regarding Michelle in Homecoming and she's not the MCU Mary Jane. Well, Feige, here she is.
