From Alien to Alien 3- Review of the Alien Trilogy

Alien Covenant is just around the corner, so why not review the Alien films that came before it. So this week its time to tackle the Alien Trilogy.

In space...no one can hear you scream.

This time...its war.

3 times the suspense. 3 times the danger. 3 times the terro
r.

There is no doubt of the cultural impact the Alien franchise has had on pop culture. Spanding almost 40 years, Alien has expanded past its horror roots from 1979 to action in 1986, to drama in 1992, then to a mashup of all in 1997, and then to a mystery in 2012. This week we examine the first 3 films. Alien and Aliens are the clear fan favorites. (Alien is my pick). However Alien 3 wasn't well received when it came out. But since then it's developed a cult following with some wide respect and admiration for what David Fincher was trying to accomplish. And in 2003 with the Alien Quadrilogy box set being released, all 4 extended versions of the films were to be sold to the public and Alien 3 got its own "assembly cut" which gained a lot more support.

So its time to get nerdy over the Alien films, to get in the right mood in time for Covenant. Next week we'll take on Alien Resurrection and Prometheus.

So what are your thoughts on the Alien Trilogy?
Are you a fan of the horror side of the franchise with Alien?
Or are you more partial to James Cameron's action packed Aliens?
Are you in the camp that hates Alien 3?
Or do you find yourself respecting what David Fincher did?
