Brand New CLOVERFIELD Fan Film MEGAN Attempts to Bridge the Gaps Between Movies

Though the three Cloverfield movies are said to take place in separate timelines, a group of fans have begun creating something that links them together, and it is something to behold. Check it out here!

While CLOVERFIELD fans are still waiting for news on the fourth official entry into the franchise (rumored to be a direct sequel to 2008's original film), a group of clearly very talented devotees have released a short fan film to tide people over.

The flick, billed as a "proof of concept," teases an attempt to fill in the spaces between CLOVERFIELD and its successor, 2016's 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE. The title, MEGAN, refers to the lost daughter of Howard Stambler, the owner of the house at 10 Cloverfield Lane played wonderfully by John Goodman.

Though Megan is never actually seen in the official films, her name is referenced more than once in dialogue as the person who was to share the bunker in which most of the film takes place; she was also a main component of the ARG (or alternate reality game) that led to the film's release in March of 2016.

Check out the film below:

When watching MEGAN, the first thing that stands out is the production value. It doesn't exactly feel like a fan film. Though only a few minutes long, it does showcase some immense talent from the writers, Giuseppe Mercadante and Jean de Meuron, and co-writer/director Greg Strasz. Longtime followers of the CLOVERFIELD mythology will of course recognize Slusho!, the drink owned by a subsidy of the Tagruato Corporation, whose employees have included Rob Hawkins, the protagonist of the 2008 film, and Howard Stambler himself.

Ganu Yoshida, the never-seen-but-still-infamous CEO of Tagruato also makes an appearance before some wild stuff is teased.

If this is truly only a small bit of the finished product, then we are in for something amazing when it's all done.

Can it fix the damage done from the Cloverfield Paradox? Because that film was

@L0RDbuckethead - Well if you are comparing it to the other two movies...yeah it was weak. Though I did enjoy it for what it was.

@L0RDbuckethead - Cloverfield Paradox was a bad movie. All it really did was make it so that JJ can make literally any movie he wants with any supernatural presence, whether its monsters, aliens, ghosts, demons, zombies or whatever else, and then slap the Cloverfield name on it with no connection whatsoever to other films.

Except of course for the connection that those movies are happening because of these idiotic dildos in Paradox breaking reality.

Paradox really hurt the franchise for me, but I can’t help but be excited watching this fam-film. Shows there is still potential

The only good movie in this franchise is 10 Cloverfield Lane.

I like this universe for what it is. The less explained and connected the better for me. I like it as a sandbox for Lovecraftian tales of monsters and aliens and things beyond our linear understanding. While executed very VERY poorly, Paradox did a decent enough job setting the scale for a film universe where literally any story could be told and I like that idea. I think James Gunn should get back to his Slither roots and direct a dark romantic comedy horror movie about two survivors falling in love in the wake of this Cloverfield universe. I think the potential to smash genres together is ripe and interesting. They don't all need to be hyper realistic feeling either. Some can be almost light hearted and campy like Paradox was (although embarrassingly that was the director's intention lol). Or some can be tense and visceral like the first 2 movies. I just want crazy movies that try new things and I think this Franchise still has the potential to go there.

@Kd666dash3dot7 - meh. It wasn't a good movie in many respects lol but I enjoy it for the same reason I love movies like the Tremors movies and Samurai Cop and Toxic Avenger.

@Kd666dash3dot7 - Who's to say? Well....JJ Abrams, for one. Until he says it is canon, it isn't. So there's that.

@Ha1frican - Supposedly the next one is a direct sequel to the original Cloverfield movie.
