Harrison Ford In Early Negotiations For New BLADE RUNNER Film

As progress on Ridley Scott's upcoming Blade Runner installment continues, the actor behind Deckard in the original film has apparently begin early talks to join the cast of the movie.

Back in August of last year, Alcon Entertainment producer Andrew Kosove said that there were no plans to bring back Harrison Ford in Ridley Scott's upcoming Blade Runner movie. Whether or not the film is a sequel or prequel has yet to be announced, but the following news may indicate that the movie is indeed a direct sequel to the original film.

Twitch Film has learned that Harrison Ford - who played lead character 'Deckard' in the original 1982 film - has entered early negotiations to join the new Blade Runner installment. As the discussions are still early, it's possible that things won't work out and Ford won't appear in the movie. Still, it can be considered evidence that the film is a sequel to Scott's original film.

In addition, back in November, Ridley Scott himself stated the film was 'liable' to be a sequel. But expect an official announcement for the movie soon, including the revealing of the screenwriter and whether or not it'll be a sequel or prequel.

Be sure to check back for the latest on the new Blade Runner film, which is widely speculated to be Ridley Scott's next project (despite having various other films in the works). Share your thoughts below in the usual place.

@Intruder I feel the same way. Plus, if it's a direct sequel then you'd have to bring Deckard back somehow.

Something about this just doesn't seem right.

The old one felt pretty conclusive. This is one case where I'd rather see a new adaptation of the novel.

@Morty

Deckard IS a REPLICANT!! and here is the proof! Right from the horses mouth Mr. Ridley Scott himself:

Watch the Directors cut folks.... far superior to the original theatrical cut.

I'm always open to sequels to great movies because I naturally want to see more of the world and characters that were created. I obviously hope its done well though.

Speaking of great movies, anyone who hasn't seen Drive yet should go out immediately and rent or buy this! It's the best movie I've seen in I don't know how long.

Yes, Morty. I just didn't want to use the word "remake."

Focus in on Philip K. Dick, less ripping off Moebius.

Good to see Scott is going back to what worked for him as most of his recent movies blow!

The theatrical version is the Studio version... The directors cut is how Scott intended to end it.

The film was far too ahead of its time and nobody got the ending in Scott's version... They studio said the end was too dark and wanted to change it to something more viewer friendly i.e. driving off into the sunset with a neat little monologue to tie things up.

@Morty sorry buddy, but my video clearly talks about Harrisons Unicorn dream sequence.... and Ridley clearly says himself that he IS a Replicant, if that's not proof i don't know what is?

Another hint of Deckard being a replicant is when Batty dies, Deckard drifts off (probably dreaming)... Gaff shows up and says "You've done a MANS job sir" the key word being 'Man' implying he IS a replicant. 2mins 15 Secs into this video.

Yes i do watch my videos.... and i've done plenty of reading all pointing to Deckard being a replicant.

I'll take Ridley Scott's word for it, not yours.

Please find something where Scott states that he is NOT a replicant.

Deckard was tweeked just like Lucas tweeks star wars to fit his ever changing perception of his creation. There are countless ways to prove Deckard is not a replicant besides the excellent points allready made here now. For example- when the Chief is having his pep talk with Deckard, he refers to him as his "old Blade Runneer" implying a lifelong relationship with the man. How can he have such a relationship when Tyrell's new Nexus models, that we are to assume Deckard is one of, have only just been developed like with Rachel. I miss the old Naration by the way, i may be alone on that but i felt it gave the film a coll noirish feel like the old Bogart films. Also some of the proof of Deckards humanity is also aparrent.

Further proof of Deckard being a replicant is the bathroom scene where he's talking to Sean Young.... His eyes glow briefly like a replicants... This scene takes place after his fight with Leon

@Intruder I agree with you of humanity vs technology... but the thing is Deckard does not realise he is a Replicant right until the very end - that's why he sympathises with him.

...also where was the super strength given to combat models like Batty? They are going to build a law enforcement model with average if not below average strength? Cmon! " More human than human"-thats the Tyrell motto.

the eyes glowing is an ordinary reflection of light on the reflective membrane within the human iris! probably a happy accident as it adds to a niceely framed shot.

Nubase- you dont have to debate anything. I hate to start but god that was an utterly democrat thing to say.

by the way...has anyone heard Harrison Ford on his experience and thoughts on Blade Runner. He hated it. Always kind of pissed me off that he felt this way. lets see him spin out of that.

I think Deckard like Rachel was another type of Replicant... Rachel didn't know she was a replicant herself.... Likewise, if Deckard was supposed to be a replicant, and he wasn't supposed to know about it, the *only way* to pull it off (without letting him find out or making him suspicious) would be to give him average human skills and abilities, and NOT make him a terminator of sorts. Unfortunately this would indeed mean he has to deal with physically stronger opponents.

And this is why he never really knew until the very end. The only invidual that did know was Gaff! who is in fact i think the REAL Blade Runner who just used Deckard to hunt the Replicants down.

Why would Tyrell go to the trouble. Why would Tyrell engage in the conversation the way he did during his interview with Deckard. How can Gaff afford a top of the line Nexus model. The Rachel technology was a first generation experimental while Deckard has odviously been roaming around for some time. If indeed the director meant for Deckard to be a replicant, then what we have is a terrably convoluted story.

I don't know about this. Harrison Ford seems to phone in most of the movies he is in now. It's hard to watch him because he just looks so bored in them all.
