Thoughts on Jurassic Park 4 and excitement for the 20th year re-release of Jurassic Park

I know they aren't comicbook movies but, they're covered here anyways. Plus, how can you say no to Steven Spielberg (Unless you're J.K Rowling)? One more thing. Welcome, to Jurassic Park.

Jurassic Park 4 in theaters June 13th, 2014. My reaction "Holy shit!! Yes!!!" As you can tell, I am a huge Jurassic Park fanatic. Hell, it's my favorite film franchise. So, how can I have thoughts on Jurassic Park 4? It's simple really. I was three or four years old when I first saw Jurassic Park (I was born 2 and a half years after it hit theaters) and I won't lie, I was a huge dinosaur kid. I saw the film and I was just in awe. You would think for as lengthy as it is and the fact it wasn't a cartoon, kids would get bored with it or just run of and play and just be kids. Not me, I would just sit there and watch and get all excited. I guess the best way to put my love for Jurassic Park is, the kind of love A LOT of people have for Star Wars is the kind of love I have for Jurassic Park. To be honest, the original is my all time favorite movie and the reason I became so in love with movies. You had the characters you could just fall in love with, the special effects were ground breaking at the time and that helped bring the dinosaurs to life. That being said, the Jurassic Park movie I saw in the theater was Jurassic Park 3, I LOVED it and I still love it to this day. I've been waiting for Jurassic Park 4 for over a decade. So, my intial reaction was all yells, and excitement. But, then I gave it more thought. Where do they go story wise? So, despite my excitement for it still, I do have some worries. I would love to see some of the original cast members back. Particularly Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum. But, as I said before. The problem is the story. I remember having a Jurassic Park marathon a little over a month ago and when I watched them back to back (which I had never done before), I saw the connections and realized that Jurasic Park 3 was a great trilogy closer. No need for a fourth. Go figure, a month later Jurassic Park 4 is announced. There, really isn't much I can say in the department of thoughts on JP4 when there really isn't much to give thoughts about. Oh, and I would rather see Steven Spielberg direct it again than someone else. But, as long as Spielberg is part of the project and has say over the script and what not, I'm confident it'll be good. That being said.

When is it that you could watch a trailer to a movie you've already seen, just the trailer alone, and just get to be all smiles? Well, despite never having read the book, that's what happens to me when I watch the trailer (2D or 3D) for Jurassic Park. I don't love Jurassic Park cause it's ground breaking. Again, it's because of the characters you could fall in love with, dinosaurs are real and alive, the exciting scenes and just the movie as a whole is, magical. The first time you see the Brontosaurus, it's just a very magical moment. It's all smiles and it lifts your heart. It's something that is just burnt into your memory. My excitement for the re-release of the original Jurassic Park was just.. wow. I couldn't believe it. I actually heard about it on this site. I reread it and I screamed like a girl would while seeing Twilight. Yea, that's a bit funny but it's true. For me, the excitement for Jurassic Park surpasses that of every Harry Potter film and every superhero film. It kinda disappoints me that these days, people will just say "yea, it was a good movie" or "it sucked, it's nothing like the book". I won't read the book. It's not cause I don't think it isn't good. It's just, why ruin the magic? Why ruin what got me into movies in the first place? Jurassic Park is everything a movie should have (minus the romance). I just think, that the re-release (even though it's in 3D) will remind people why this movie is so great in the first place. Now, I know I am guilty of saying a movie is crap compared to the book, cause The Hunger Games is just that. I'm sure, Jurassic Park is too. But, has anyone who read the Jurassic Park books tried watching them as just fun popcorn movies?

Final thoughts: Jurassic Park 3D? Yep, I'm sure it's clear my love and excitement for the film. Jurassic Park 4? I'm becoming a little worried but still confident about. Overall, while I would wish nothing but for the franchise to rest in peace. It's nice to see them try and push for Jurassic Park to live into the lives of the next generation. On a personal level, Jurassic Park is excitement and fun that you just don't get much from cinema anymore.

What are your thoughts on JP4, the re-release of the original and just the franchise in general? Comment below and most importantly, be respectful.

@Levi: That's one of my favorite things about Dr.Connors that makes him my all time favorite villain. He is a villain but at the same time he isn't.

Jp has had it's spread of comic books.

The first Jp, is still such an achievement in movies, everything about it was great, lost world would have been great if they would have followed the book, and Jp 3 was fun, had its probs but Atleast it was fun. Can't wait for the rerelease and jp4!!!!

Nice article.Might want to space your sentences out a bit.

Now like you, I love the Jurassic Park films. Well, I used to love them a ton as a kid and still love them today for sentimental reasons. However, when I got older I read the books (which you definately should) and decided to revisit the movie and believe it or not, I didn't like it like I used to. Now, I think that the reason is because I felt that it didn't compare to the book and just felt kinda corny with the kids around, something that the book avoided. It just didn't have the maturity or complexity of it'source material.

Now, I personally think that the next JP movie should take a cue from Rise of the Planet of the Apes on how to craft a good science-thriller by updating some things so that they fit into a contemporary setting, like new sciences that are hot right now and all the new discoveries we've made about dinosaurs. That way, I'll be one happy fanboy :P

@DaRaginScotsman: I wouldn't mind reading the books but, as I said in the article. I am not really wanting to cause I don't want to take away the magic the movie has cause it's because of the magic of the movie that made me fall in love with it and movies in general in the first place.

I say it should be a remake. I know remakes are bad but who cares. The reason I say that. Is because as much as I want to see the main characters come back like Jeff if I was them I would not. What I mean by that is the character they play not the actor. Because if you have been on an island once with dinosaurs you would not go back.

But if some wacky thing happened that made you go back there again you for sure would not be that dumb to do it again. I say remake it like the book. This way you can make two more JP movies. I love the JP movies. But after you read the book you want to see what a R rated movie could be like. There was some cool things in JP3 that were from the book the Lost World.

But I want to see a new take on the series. I want to see the motorcycle scene on the big screen. As a fan of the JP movies they are great. But I want to see a new take on the series more then a straight sequel.

As for not wanting to read the books because you feel it will diminish the movies it should not. Love the movies for what they are. That is a good film.

I feel like Steven might now do this film seeing as Robopocalypse has been put on hold. But as much as I want to see the JP book version on film. I want to see Pirate Latitudes more. It is sad that Michael Crichton is no more with us. He made some good books & I would have enjoyed seeing more from him.

@BlackIceJoe: I usually have an opened mind but, I would loathe a remake of it. Mostly cause it's been my all time favorite movie for about 15 years.
