A new poster has been released for Prey, the latest entry in the Predator franchise. The Hulu Original arrives on the streaming service on August 5, and will be available on Disney+ globally. It's a stunning piece of imagery, and one that teases what looks set to be an epic battle between the hunter and hunted.

Film fans in San Diego were treated to an advance screening of the movie at Comic-Con last night, and that was followed by a Q&A with Amber Midthunder, Dakota Beavers, Dane DiLiegro, director Dan Trachtenberg, and producer Jhane Myers.

Next week, you'll want to keep a close eye on SFFGazette.com as we'll be sharing our own interviews with the cast and crew of the movie. Those include intel on a possible sequel, original plans to keep the Predator's role a secret, and a breakdown of some key scenes. We'll also have a review for you, though the social reactions below will give you an early idea of our thoughts!

Prey tells the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior who has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains.

So when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.

The movie is directed by Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane), written by Patrick Aison (Jack Ryan), and also stars newcomer Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp (Sooyii), Michelle Thrush (The Journey Home), Julian Black Antelope (Tribal), and Dane DiLiegro (American Horror Stories) as the Predator.

Check out the awesome new poster for Prey (via SFFGazette.com) below:

As we mentioned, the poster is accompanied by the first reactions from critics. The movie is receiving a lot of praise and all signs point to Prey being the best Predator movie since the original (it may, in fact, be even better).

I bet it got a standing ovation.

In all seriousness I am hopeful about this movie I just don’t trust early reviews for anything anymore.

1897? 🤨

@Spidey91 - He's referring to the sequel to this one which will take place in 1897, and clearly he's already seen it and it's AMAZING (according to rumors the Predator is hunting Thomas Edison and Edison has to defeat him with all kinds of exploding lightbulbs and other electric doodads. Kinda like Kevin from Home Alone vs. the Predator set in pre-Industrial Age times. Again, AMAZING).

@StSteven - The headline clearing says “since the 1897 ORIGINAL”. Also this new movie takes place 300 years in the past, not 1897.

Trailer looked promising. Cautiously optimistic for this one.

To be fair, it's not really hard to be the best Predator movie since the original.

I don’t know man all these movies always have glowing first reactions. It’s paid for bullshit.

Heard this all before. Social media reactions are just promotional material. Correct me if I am wrong, but has there been social media reactions prior to a movie launch, when the people were invited by the movie company to watch the film, that have said it is a bad movie?

Predator 2 unironically slaps, I hope it's at least as good as that one.

@ClungeAndThunda - Don't know if it's too woke, but it seems to be a ripoff of a fan film.

Wait... so a bunch of Woke critics praise the Woke Predator movie? The same critics who crapped all over the amazing Terminal List because it starred a guy they think is a conservative and because that series is about as un-Woke as you can get?

Get outta town!!!

Predator franchise has always been a big dumb franchise (yes, even the good ones) so hopefully it’s a back to basics fun action flick.

A shame it’s not in theaters

@GhostDog - The cost of one month of Hulu is less than the price of most theater tickets, so I'm signing up for Hulu for one month to watch this a few times.
