While most people know Michael Dorn for playing the character of Worf in Star Trek: The Next Generation, he is a multi-talented veteran when it comes to both acting and flying, having performed on screen for decades in spaceships as well as real-life piloting alongside famous aerobatic teams such as the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds.
Taking to the skies whenever he can, Dorn is also showing his fans that he hasn't left the world of science fiction behind him. While hoping for the chance to return as Worf and even proposing his own chronicles for the character, he recently shot Agent Revelation, a sci-fi film set to release this month.
The film is actually a sequel to Agent Intelligence, but with the movies being separated by a five-hundred-year time-gap, Dorn's character is new to the series. To help promote the new film, he spoke with us in detail about why his character is integral to the plot and what it was about the script that enticed him to return to the sci-fi genre.
"I purposely didn't watch the first Agent; I wanted to take Revelation on its own. I'm an actor, so I looked at my role, and it was very interesting. He was an integral part, which I liked. The script itself was one of those that you never know how the movie will turn out. You never know what people will think about it, but I was at least interested in it. That was the main thing. And it also dealt with what I felt was the idea about greed and right and wrong and loyalty. And where does that strength come from? And I liked that a lot; I added that into my portrayal of the character.
Basically, what I've been doing the last like 15 years is fighting off an alien invasion, which is always what they're trying to do. They're trying to take over by going with a guy that is a billionaire who has all of the resources and connections that can get them in their little tentacles to go out there and to try to turn the planet over to them. And my character falls for it. He's greedy; he's disloyal. They ask him to kill his own son, which is ridiculous. But, now that he's done that, or now that he's part of this, he feels very contrived about it. He really wants to make up for his actions before. And so he's chosen Derrick's character to be the point man to get rid of these godforsaken aliens, as usual."
