We heard what he had to say about joining the MCU as Skurge earlier on, and now Kiwi actor Karl Urban is the first member of the Enterprise crew out of the blocks with a new Star Trek Beyond character poster. If the recent second trailer is any indication, Dr. "Bones" McCoy looks to have a bit more to do this time around which is good news.

This is obviously the first of many posters, and more may well drop at some point today so keep an eye out for updates.

After stopping off at Starbase Earhart, a remote outpost on the fringes of Federation space, the USS Enterprise, halfway into their five-year mission, is destroyed by a powerful, unstoppable wave of unknown aliens. With the crew stranded on a unknown planet and with no apparent means of rescue, they find themselves in conflict with a new ruthless enemy who has a well-earned hatred of the Federation and what it stands for.

Star Trek Beyond reunites Jon Cho, Simon Pegg, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoë Saldana, Karl Urban and Anton Yelchin, with Idris Elba, Sofia Boutella, Lydia Wilson, Shohreh Aghdashloo and Joe Taslim joining the cast.

The movie hits theaters on 22nd July, 2016.

@Mark Cassidy - Thanks for posting. Karl Urban is from New Zealand, though, not an Aussie.

Awesome posters. So im guessing shes one of the aliens from the opening scene of ITD. Guessing kirks crew caused that civilization to develop at a quick rate. Very reminiscent of some TOS and TNG plots.

Wicked cool, we get the NX01, Enterprise styled flight jackets and i hope we get a cameo from Admiral Archer and Porthos.

Still wish they went the Klingon route with this movie. Seemed it was set up perfectly in Darkness for a huge war to start...

Some of the best character posters I've seen in a while. No floating, badly photoshopped heads in sight.

Also, the subtle Starfleet insignia.
