R2-D2 in New Star Trek Movie?

R2-D2 in New Star Trek Movie?

Slashfilm.com has an outrageous rumor to relay. Did you see R2-D2 in the new Star Trek movie?

Remember when George Lucas hid E.T. creatures in Star Wars: Episode I? Well apparently JJ Abrams did the same kind of thing in Star Trek, hiding the robot R2-D2 from Star Wars in one of the scenes (yes, the photo above is an obvious photoshop). I watched the film twice and definitely didn’t notice the little droid anywhere, so it must be a really obscure easter egg. I also haven’t seen any mention of the “cameo appearance” made anywhere online.

But Paramount Pictures has announced a contest, giving away an official prop from the film to one of the people who actually spotted the beeping droid. What scene in the new film Star Trek features the robot “R2-D2″ from Star Wars? Email your answer to [email protected] with “STAR TREK Easter Egg Sweepstakes” in the subject line. Full rules are listed on Facebook.

Paramount Pictures has also announced that NASA astronaut Michael Barratt will have the opportunity to watch the film aboard the International Space Station, while he and two crewmates fly 220 miles above Earth. How cool is that? You can read more in the official press release after the jump.

Be careful Spock, lol, I don't know how many die hard SW fans are lurking about and you may start a CBM equivalent to a 1930's hotel fire.

Evil1991-- ET was in the senate in star wars I. 2 or 3 of em are in one of the little pod senate seats. They move around in a way that is so unlike ET that you just think they're a random alien.

Look about that fire, i'm sorry, I was pretending to be Darth Maul fighting with my lightsaber making the sound effects with my mouth of course, and I hit a lamp and it caught the curtains on fire, and well you know the rest. But hey in my defense 1930's building codes were very shoty.

Why can't Warsies, or whatever Star Wars people are called and Trekkies(or the Yuppie form of the word, Trekkers) get along. As a Sci-fi and all sorts of cool stuff geek, I enjoy them both thoroughly. I have to admit that the new Trek is waay better than the new Wars. I have problems with them both. Ewoks anyone?!? They blow. Star Trek:Nemesis?!? Blows just as bad.

These guys are so desperate that they even need some help from R2, since they know that the movie can't make by itself, star trek needs some help from Star Wars. THAT'S RIGHT!!! Paramount makes sure they put something of Star Wars so a bunch of people can come and wonder if they catch R2 in action. Nobody wants to watch that crappy movie, NOBODY!!! well I say...BOO star trek!!!! No wonder this movie didn't make it! Even Angels & Demons beat it box office. MUAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

star trek SUCKS!!

STAR WARS RULES!!!

Though i am a HUGE Star Wars Fan, i have this to say:

--Tobuttica: Yeah this SW vs ST never ending battle is useless, and pointless.

TaffetaDarling: See Bety´s explanation about ET a few comments above.

LuV: SW helping the STrek movie by looking for something as well known as R2 and put it in the movie, is kind of true, i mean, why didn´t JJAbrahams put something from BattleStar Galactica instead?

...But let´s not be so "obtuse" ok. I am willing to give the new STrek movie a chance.

Ok SirPrize, as always, your images are worth a 1000 words! There were also Wookies senators in another pod btw.

@ CaptainAmerica

1st of all, LOL. Jar Jar Binks is not the WHOLE Star Wars saga himself, that is only one character, which in fact has his own story. Not like star trek, everybody comes from the same mother...JK

BTW, I love ET!

No prob´. I just thought i was the one that made the wrong impression!.

Well, lets leave this issue as a gentlemen agreement, no, more like an Agreement between "Sirs" haha LOL!

Good thing we didn´t have to fix this with a duel with pistols at dawn.!! like back in the Ol´ days lol!
