STAR TREK 4 Has Reportedly Been "Shelved" By Paramount Pictures

After both Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth reportedly decided to walk away from the franchise following pay disputes, a new report indicates that Star Trek 4 has now been put on hold by Paramount Pictures.

It's been clear for a while now that the fourth Star Trek movie is in trouble, especially as the last major update we received mentioned that Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth (who was slated to make a "surprise" return as Captain Kirk's father) had walked away from the project after Paramount Pictures failed to pay them what they wanted.

Now, a new report reveals that following the departure of SJ Clarkson to work on that Game of Thrones prequel, the studio has decided to shelve the project for the foreseeable future.

There's no word on what's happening with Quentin Tarantino's rumoured Star Trek movie but it's not all bad news: Star Trek Discovery returns to CBS Access a few weeks from now and another live-action series is in the works starring Sir Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard.

It's a shame that Star Trek's
big screen fortunes aren't looking that good and it's hard to escape the feeling that another reboot could happen somewhere down the line, presumably with a new cast of characters.

Whenever I see these updates/headlines for 4, it just feels like Chris couldn't get along with Chris. Or Chris' agent didn't like the other Chris, vice versa, they wanted more than the other, etc.

Never really seemed like a 4th was actually happening. Star Trek: Beyond was probably the most like the original show as far as the exploration aspect, but it was also not the most memorable of movies. Still an enjoyable bunch of films all the same. Would have gladly watched another at some point.
