STAR TREK SATURDAY | DAY EIGHT: STAR TREK FIRST CONTACT

After the disappointing Generations, the studio invested in a better script to continue on the series, and thanks to the direction of Jonathan Frakes, Star Trek First Contact is a big step up.

Star Trek Generations really divided the Trekkie community. Some thoroughly enjoyed the picture for its oddity and atmosphere, while others hated it for its third act. But here we are with Star Trek First Contact, the best of the TNG films (and that's not saying much to be honest). Star Trek First Contact is one of those sequels that drastically improves on its predecessor and delivers a far more satisfying result. This time the filmmakers made the wise choice in making The Borg the main antagonist. The Borg are such an interesting villain; you can do so much with them; and though First Contact could've done a better story than what was given to us, its still entertaining nonetheless. This Trek film isn't perfect by any means; its got some narrative flaws and some odd character decisions, but that doesn't excuse the fact that this is one widely entertaining space blockbuster.
