If there are any two characters that are almost certain to return for J.J. Abrams' Star Wars Episode VII I'd say it would be the droids, C-3PO and R-2D2. Both characters have been staples of the franchise right from the get-go in 1977's "A New Hope", so I can't imagine they will be left out of any future movies. But will the man who brought the protocol droid to life in the past be returning? While chatting to Digital Spy Daniels doesn't come right out and say it, but seems to hint that the phone has rang.
"Look, it's all very early days and I don't want to wear anybody out by speculating or letting you waste your energy by saying 'What do you think? I'm certainly not sitting by the phone, but it's always nice when it rings. Do you know what I mean? It never occurred to me that it would happen. Everybody's really happy that Disney have taken over the mantle. Kathy Kennedy is so well loved and she is carrying George Lucas's torch so much further."
