Apparently The First STAR WARS Stand-Alone Film Will Focus On...YODA!

Yesterday it was a huge Marvel rumor, today it's Star Wars. Harry over at AICN reckons he knows which established character the first of the stand-alone movies - ie NOT the upcoming trilogy - will focus on, and it's none other than that wisest of Jedi masters, Yoda..

Unexpected this is, yes, hmmmm. Last night we had info on Marvel's big green fella, and tonight it's a slightly smaller green fella from the galaxy far far away. Harry from Ain't It Cool News has put his scooping hat on and reckons he's found out some big info on the first of Disney's planned slate of solo (no, not THAT Solo) Star Wars flicks. According to him, these movies (it's not known if they'll appear between the new trilogy films or after) WILL focus on already established character from the previous Star Wars installments, but that's not all: It seems the first of them will focus on the most powerful Jedi from the entire saga. "The first Stand Alone film is going to center upon YODA." says Knowles. "At this stage specifics are sparse, but Kathleen Kennedy is putting together a STAR WARS slate". Harry also mentions briefly that he's heard rumor of a Jabba The Hutt story circulating, but nothing concrete on it. That really is pretty much all the details he has at the moment, but still, some pretty big news I'm sure you'll agree. Are you happy that we'll see a Yoda spin-off? Or would you have preferred they started with a different character? Sound off in the usual place.

so if this was an actual movie, would it be the origin story of the little green badass. Because a movie based on Dagobah or a movie about ghost Yoda after Return of The Jedi would honestly be boring lol

Im guessing it will be the Puss In Boots of the Star Wars franchise, a movie about the early years and how Yoda gets his boots....I mean lightsaber or something like that..

and if Disney goes about it the right way, the Star Wars universe could be as expansive as the MCU. If Star Wars can have an in-depth universe in the spin-off media, it can have it on screen too, potentially for years to come

I can't picture a Yoda movie. A Yoda prequel comic book series could be cool, but I don't think Yoda would really work as a film protagonist.

doesnt matter what you guys think its all about the money. disney didnt buy lucas and say ok now what? this was planned way before their big move and this a sign theyre going to just absolutely take over the movie industry.

Yoda will be young and 8 foot tall in the movie. He shrunk during his 900 years

Do or do not. There is no try. I'm not sure what a Yoda movie would really be about. He's not a character an audience can really connect with seeing as how he isn't human or human-like. Even though I love Star Wars i'm not sure they should go ahead with this. That Seven Samurai idea sounded absolutely spectacular and that would be a great spin-off. Also it would be great to see a movie based on the underworld of the Star Wars universe (I'm looking at you Boba Fett).

Maybe they could do a movie where something Jango Fett did is coming back to haunt Boba Fett. That could be a good plot for a movie. Flipping between the lives of Jango and Boba would be a great connection between the trilogies.
GUNSMITH
GUNSMITH - 2/4/2013, 9:13 PM
I WOULD ALWAYS PICTURE THEM COMING OUT WITH A TRILOGY OF THE BEGINNINGS OF YODA CALLING THE FILMS "JEDI MASTER" HIS BEGINNING OF HOW HE BECAME A JEDI MASTER, WHY HE'S THE WAY HE IS..HUNDREDS OF YEARS SOME AWESOME STUFF, AWESOME SITH LORDS AND COUNTLESS BAD AZZ BATTLES..IF THAT ISN'T PRIME AMMUNITION TO MAKE A SEPARATE STAND ALONE TRILOGY I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS.

We also seriously need a Force Unleashed movie. Something that connects to the other 2 games in some way. Starkiller deserves his own movie and you gotta have Sam Witwer!

I can see it as an animated feature. I have a hard time seeing it as live action.

I'm not surprised they are doing this since Yoda is such a mystery. Not much is known about him. But will people really flock to the theaters to just see Yoda? I don't know but if I think about it I would have to say yes, lol.

So on top of a trilogy they want to make prequels/solo films also? That's like a Star Wars movie coming out every year to every other year! It'll be an INVASION!!!! What era we are in. Just amazing.

I'm down with the prequels, cuz then they can jump ahead to when the prophecy of the savior Jedi was created, how the Jedi and Sith were created, etc. All the events that happened way before the prequels? Maybe they'll finally answer, who's Anakin's daddy? And is Anakin so angry because he never knew his daddy? lol

Lots of exploring!!

As much as i want to be excited, im not. Not more [frick]ing Jedi stories please...something, anything else. There is SOOOOO much good stuff that could be told. I'm hopeful it will be awesome, but id much rather have Fett or a Han/Chewie/Lando buddy film.. :)

No interested in a Yoda movie. I like the fact that Yoda is a mystery just like the Force itself. Although seeing as Yoda is 900 years old I would totally dig Old Republic type Star Wars flick. No need to tell Yoda's story just have him play a supporting role.
