Star Wars live-action tv show on ABC: hard pass
Star Wars live-action tv show on Netflix, HBO, AMC, FX, or Showtime: Do it!!!!!!!!!!

@Elayem - HBO makes the most sense to me

@Elayem - I am curious enough to ask one question of you, and anyone else that cares to chime in...

ABC is a major network with major access to market and the pay schedule for network material (as it pertains to writers) is vast compared to non network material.

My question is - why would you pass on a network release but would totally go for a PAYTV/Independent outlet?

Ignoring the money aspect for writers of course.

What would make it so more appealing on a smaller scale as opposed to a major network?

@BigDaddyJinx - Because networks like Netflix, HBO, AMC, FX, Showtime produce high quality shows that look movie quality, and attract movie actors and directors.
While ABC produces tv quality shows with tv quality actors and directors.

Do you think ABC could release Game of Thrones, and if at all, to the same quality?

Netflix made House of Cards, which is produced by David Fincher and even has two episodes directed by him. It stars Kevin Spacey, a two time academy award winning actor.
Cinemax made The Knick, in which academy award winning Steven Soderbergh wrote and directed every episode.
HBO made westworld, produced by Jonathan Nolan (The Dark Knight trilogy) and JJ Abrams (Star Wars)
AMC made arguably the most acclaimed tv show of all time (Breaking Bad) and the most popular (The Walking Dead)

The biggest talent ABC grabbed was Ken Jeong for Dr. Ken.

If "Too Long, Didn't Read" then short version: I want the show to be more like Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, or Daredevil, and less like Agent of Shield, Dr. Ken, or Once Upon A Time

@Elayem - That's actually very informative. 2 pages is my limit, FWIW...so it's a while before TL;DR

I asked because I have a series I'm working on, and ideally I would like to see it picked up when ready (duh). Knowing the scope and scale of major networks and independent/PAYTV types, I was quietly hoping one of them would take interest over a network for the same reasons you listed.

A major network reaches more homes (potentially) but niche market PAYTV types like your Netflix/HBO/FX/etc. would be where a series like mine would thrive and not merely wither on the vine.

Honestly, I have yet to see anyone truly advocate for a major network to pick up their stuff or anyone else's.

Always good to add another opinion to the mix. I know my personal preference isn't that far from consensus.

My vote is to have a TV-MA Old Republic Netflix series over anything on ABC.

I would like to see more of Darth Maul or his race. I know they are in the animated series. Also he was probably the best character I saw in the only prequel that I saw. Should be played by Scott Adkins as he could get the Martial Arts right.

That Darth Maul game would be cool. Never played Force Unleashed 2 but really liked the first one.
