YouTube is loaded with remixed trailers from fans with decent editing skills and a lot of enthusiasm, but rarely do those trailers garner the attention of the big studios whose films they are tinkering with, and even rarer still do the studios give a shout-out or endorsement to the plucky editor. However,
YouTube user Khameleon808's fan-made video for
Tron: Legacy has excited fans and even prompted Disney to
post a link of it on the studio's official Facebook account for
Tron: Legacy.
A message from Khameleon808:
This is my first Trailer/Feature and I had alot of fun making it. I started working on this shorty after The Apple Tree was released. The title and intro are indeed a tipping hat to Daft Punk's Video "Derezzed". They came out with their video right around the time I was finishing mine up, and I still hadnt thought of a title. So I thought it would be fun to keep the name scheme similar as well as the feel of the setup. No harm meant, got nothing but love for Daft Punk and hope this video becomes a nice companion video to theirs.
My only wish is to do this professionally.
I am just blown away at the attention its got. I could not thank the people at Disney enough for putting it on their FB page.
As well as Olivia Wilde for giving the video to [producer] Sean Bailey. Glitch Mob deserves the most thanks for being such a cool group to work with a single fan to create something awesome. Oh and for not suing me for using their music HAHAHA jk jk :P Thank you everyone for watching this and you have no idea how much it means to me that you enjoy it enough to leave a comment or to even click the replay button. Lets hope Tron3 gets a score from the Glitch Mob!!!
Official Synopsis of Tron: Legacy:
Sam Flynn (
Garrett Hedlund), a rebellious 27-year-old, is haunted by the mysterious disappearance of his father Kevin Flynn (
Jeff Bridges), a man once known as the world’s leading video-game developer. When Sam investigates a strange signal sent from the abandoned Flynn’s Arcade—that could have only come from his father—he finds himself pulled into a world where Kevin has been trapped for 20 years. With the help of the fearless warrior Quorra (
Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-or-death journey across a visually-stunning digital universe—created by Kevin himself—which has become far more advanced with never-before-imagined vehicles, weapons, and landscapes and a ruthless villain who will stop at nothing to prevent their escape.
