Talking to MTV News to promote the release of Furious 7, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was asked how work is progressing on the highly anticipated DC Comics movie which is currently scheduled to be released in 2019. "No, we haven’t picked a Shazam yet, and we have been working on the script. Half the scripts [have] already come in. Fantastic, very excited about it. And what I’m really excited about is — because, again, I’ve lived with this character, and this opportunity for almost 10 years now, so it’s like, in my DNA! I’m like a little kid, and it’s the opportunity to create his journey, but that journey has to start out properly." The actor then went on to talk more about his portrayal of his villainous character. "And starting off properly is [Black Adam] not being a hero. That’s got to be earned, so he starts off as a slave. And he’s pissed off, and people are going to pay. But eventually down the line he’ll become an anti-hero." What do you guys think?

@JoshWilding James Wan talked with Collider in an interview posted today, and he was quite tight-lipped on if he's been in negotiations to helm a DC movie.

http://collider.com/the-conjuring-2-story-script-james-wan/

It was reported last October by Deadline via. New Line CCO Emmerich that he would be potentially helming a DC film for New Line & WB, so most definitely Shazam! if it pans out.

I really hope they cast two separate people for Billy/Shazam. Casting one person for Steve Rogers worked because he was already an adult, just scrawny. Billy is a kid though, so he should definitely look a lot younger than Shazam.

So looking forward to this!

I wonder who will play Shazam. He is one of the members of the Lords of Order, so it will be interesting to see how they show the wizard. If I remember correctly he and Merlin fought along side each other to stop Morgana Le Frey and Mordred. Shazam could be the DCCU's Gandalf if WB wanted. He could teach and help Billy along the way. This way Billy has someone to show him the ways of being Captain Marvel.

Shazam could be Latino or Asian.

10 years? What took so long? I hate all this anti-hero talk, I hope they don't ruin what makes Black Adam so great and give Shazam the shaft in one fell swoop.

On another note Black Adam isn't a slave. So Dwayne needs to stop saying that.

Here's info on Shazam and Teth-Adam.

Circa 1200 BC, Shazam became a high priest to the pharaoh Ramses II of Egypt. As the wizard grew older, he sought a champion worthy to inherit his powers. The young prince Teth-Adam of Kahndaq (Ramses' son) impressed the wizard with his fairness and decency. But before Shazam could bestow his powers, his daughter Blaze made a deal with the god Set. When Teth-Adam spoke the name "Shazam," instead of gaining the wizard's powers, he was blessed with the power of six Egyptian gods: Shu, Heru, Amon, Zehuti, Aton and Mehen. Thus, though Adam speaks the name "Shazam," he does not draw power from the wizard. Teth-Adam served Egypt for many years, but this duty drew him away from his wife and children in Kahndaq. While he was away, the mad priest, Ahk-ton ravaged Kahndaq and killed Adam's family. The priest was powered by the "Orb of Ra". Adam could not apprehend Ahk-ton, so he entombed his family and returned to the court of Ramses. There he served as Egypt's champion alongside another great wizard, Nabu. Mighty-Adam was a success as a hero for Egypt, but his service kept him away from his wife, Shiruta, and his sons Gon and Hurut.

I agree with the idea of using TFA tech and making the boy turn into the man,... Use motion capture technology like TFA is so cool, and if they do it accurately enough, they could grow him up and make him still look like his motion capture person.
