GREEN LANTERN Actor Mark Strong Is Reportedly In Talks To Play SHAZAM Villain Doctor Sivana
We recently found out that Chuck star Zachary Levi had been cast as Shazam, and now we're hearing that Mark Strong (Green Lantern, Kingsman) is in negotiations to play the film's villain, Doctor Sivana...
We've known for a while now that Black Adam wouldn't be making an appearance in Shazam, which led to many fans wondering which DC baddie would take his place as the movie's main antagonist.
Now, The Wrap reports that it'll be Doctor Sivana, and none other than Mark Strong is in talks to play him.
In the comics, Doctor Thaddeus Bodog Sivana was introduced as a mad scientist-type villain who went on to become The Big red Cheese's arch nemesis. The more recent New 52 incarnation of the character turns to magic in an attempt to save his family, and winds up forming an alliance with Black Adam. There's a pretty good chance that version will inform this big-screen take on Sivana.
Mark Strong has dabbled in the DC Universe before as Sinestro in the non-canon Green Lantern movie, and he's also appeared in the likes of Kick-Ass and Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
David Sandberg will direct Shazam, which will star Zach Levi in the title role. The Movie is set to start shooting next year for a tentative 2019 release.
