SHAZAM! FURY OF THE GODS: Here's What Happens In The Sequel's Two Post-Credits Scenes - SPOILERS

Shazam! Fury of the Gods has started blasting its way into theaters, and we're now breaking down the sequel's post-credits scenes and exploring what they may or may not mean for the hero's DCU future...

Shazam! Fury of the Gods has started rolling out into theaters across the globe, but for those of you who simply can't wait (or don't care enough about the long-delayed sequel to watch it on the big screen this weekend), we have you covered.

In this article, we're delving into both of the Shazam! sequel's post-credits scenes, revealing what happens and what they may be setting the stage for.

It's unclear what role, if any, Shazam will play in the new DCU moving forward but these stingers certainly don't shy away from laying the groundwork for future stories. The scenes may be little more than leftovers from a previous regime or a hint of what DC Studios has planned, but both sound undeniably important whatever the case might be.

Needless to say, MAJOR SPOILERS for Shazam! Fury of the Gods follow from this point, so you'll need to click the NEXT/VIEW LIST buttons below to see our full breakdown.

Post-Credits Scene #1

After saving the day and establishing himself as a legit superhero, it seems big things are being lined up for Shazam.

The first post-credits scene begins with The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker characters Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) and John Economos (Steve Agee) walking through the forest discussing the fact Amanda Waller has set up a meeting between them and "someone."

This mystery person sounds pretty important, but it's just Billy Batson standing there. They start by saying they'd like to offer him a spot "on the Justice..." only to be interrupted with a resounding "Yes!"

Unfortunately, the duo is talking about the Justice Society rather than the Justice League, and the disappointed teenager makes it clear he wanted to be on the main team. Billy proceeds to berate them for misleading them while pointing out they could and should have used a better name for their superhero group (who we first met in Black Adam).

He even suggests they rename the team the "Avengers Society."

Understandably, there's been a lot of grumblings surrounding Dr. Sivana (Mark Strong) and Mister Mind's apparent absence in Shazam! Fury of the Gods' main plot after the first movie's stinger.

That set the stage for a villainous team-up which could have led to the formation of the Monster Society of Evil, but assuming a third Shazam! movie happens under DC Studios' watch, the door is still open to them assembling.

Sivana is still behind bars, albeit with a full-grown beard. He's been scribbling on the walls, but is once again met by Mister Mind. Coming through the cell's window, the two-inch alien caterpillar of high intelligence with telepathic powers tells Sivana his plan still needs more time and notes that they will soon have what they need to take over everything.

Alas, the doctor is not happy about waiting the past two years for his newfound tiny ally to break him out and is incensed when he leaves...again.

What might this all be leading to? Well...

What Do These Mean For The Shazam! Franchise's Future?

Until we know whether the plan is for Shazam! to continue as part of the DCU, that's a tricky question to answer.

Despite reports Dwayne Johnson had no interest in having Black Adam cross paths with Shazam, Amanda Waller's attempt to bring Billy Batson into the fold suggests she wanted him to join Hawkman's team. With Superman also on her side, perhaps the idea was once for the Man of Steel, Shazam, Hawkman, Atom Smasher, and Cyclone to target Teth-Adam?

That's likely out of the window now The Rock has been ousted from the DCU, but the second post-credits scene suggests Shazam will have his hands full with Sivana and Mister Mind.

Saving the former's return for the threequel adds up, while the latter has heaps of potential on screen too. This battle with the Daughters of Atlas has got the Shazam Family to a place where they're ready for such a huge threat, anyway...

I’m glad you’re spoiling this turd for people. Bad CBMs encourage other bad CBMs. I hope this crashes and burns. Why? Because of the cringy humor and the complete lack of respect for the source material. The geriatric villains they created is one of the worst ideas implemented in a comic book movie since they let Pitof direct Catwoman

@0JackieDaytona0 - lol I’m actually sitting in my office bored at work while my hot wife sleeps downstairs. Try again, no pity necessary :)

This movie looks like shit, it seems like I hurt your feelings with my negative comments on a movie you have nothing to do with. Why so defensive? It’s not like you worked on this or you will even benefit from it being successful?

I want bad movies to fail. I guarantee this will be one of them.

@RichardGrayson - I for one agree with you.

Fan boys paying to go watch a dumpster fire is why Sony keeps pumping out hot steaming garbage, and will continue to do so until given a reason not to.

For all the comments on social media, money speaks louder than words. As long as crappy comic book movies continue to attract revenue, they will continue to pump out crappy comic book movies! It’s not that difficult.

I still haven’t watched the Venom movies, def don’t plan on watching that wack Morbius movie, or any of the ones in the pipelines like the “hero” version of Kraven, or whatever is happening with Madem Webb.

It’s going to be nine stop, and none of this will mesh well or gel with whatever’s going on in the main MCU continuity.

Never watched Joker, def not watching the musical sequel.

Why? Bc I want a proper joker in the main DCU continuity, and that will sit on the back burner a long as they have a version that’s raking in the money.

Shazam has been such a weak character on screen that he couldn’t even carry a movie along without bringing in the fam in part 1!

Rant over …. For now

Went ahead and read it because I have no plan to see this movie in theaters. Once I read it...my intentions were confirmed.
