SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Photos Feature The Friendly Neighborhood Web-Slinger Getting Into All Kinds Of Action

With the summer movie season nearly here, a number of trades have rolled out their extensive summer movie previews and today, we received brand new photos from Marvel Studios' & Sony Pictures' upcoming joint-collaboration Spider-Man: Homecoming, featuring a brand new look at Tom Holland suited up as everyone's friendly neighborhood superhero.

The Los Angeles Times shared a few details on the upgrades Tony Stark made to Peter Parker's suit, which include a recon drone, a GPS tracking system, an upgraded web shooter, explosive web snares, web wings, expressive eyes, and an auto-fit feature, amongst other surprises that fans will have to wait to discover in theaters. While chatting with director Jon Watts, they learned a little of the reasoning behind all these tech upgrades. “There’s actually a precedent for a lot of these ideas in these comics, In the very first issue of Spider-Man, there was one page dedicated to all the different things that Spider-Man can do with his webs. We would always joke about that because there’s web skis, and a web boat, and a web shield.” He elaborates on a few features and explains why we won't see the spider tracers before ending the chat with a tease of some of the web tricks Spidey's going to pull off. “We don’t go quite as far as having web skis... but you do get to see the webs doing more than just a regular strand.”

While chatting with Entertainment Weekly, star Tom Holland touched on how Captain America: Civil War proved to be a valuable learning experience for him. "I was able to see how professional Chris Evans behaves, how Robert Downey Jr. is always on time and always prepared — it gave me a blueprint of what to do and how to act.” Watts added a little bit about his experience shooting the film and how one simple realization early on in production helped him weather the potentially overwhelming task at hand. “It’s still just one frame, one shot at a time. At the end of the day, it’s still just two hours, it’s still the fundamentals of storytelling even though the names are bigger and the budgets are higher. The same things that are important to a small movie are just as important on a big one.”

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

Those eyes are fantastic. Actually, all of the movie costumes have captured a different era and have been great. Truly a testament to awesome costume design.

@Kr08 - Actually that's not true. For 99% of shots where the mask is on, he has a plastic shell underneath so that the mask can look tight and smooth without being uncomfortable and lumpy looking on his face. Any shots where he needs to pull the mask off, he doesn't wear the shell. So obviously in that set photo they were about to do a shot where he takes the mask off.
