MORBIUS Star Al Madrigal Reveals Movie's Alternate Ending And Original Plans For His FBI Agent (Exclusive)

Morbius star Al Madrigal has confirmed that the Marvel movie once had a very different ending, sharing details on a big fight scene and what he was originally told about plans for his FBI Agent Rodriguez.

Look at any of the trailers for Morbius (even the one that debuted weeks before the movie arrived in theaters), and you'll notice a lot of scenes that weren't in the final cut. Among them were moments that appear to have been set in a forest, and along with shots of a panicked Martine Bancroft on the run, we saw police cars closing in and Agents Stroud and Rodriguez looking ready for a fight.

Earlier today, we spoke with Al Madrigal about his standout role in the hilarious new comedy Unplugging. After we pointed out that it seemed like a lot of the actor and comic's scenes had been cut, he went on to share Morbius' original ending, confirming what we saw in theaters was reshot.

"You saw a complete alternate ending to this entire thing," he said of the aforementioned forest scene. "They made a good point. That scene you saw pictures from was shot during the day and the rationale was, ‘We have a vampire movie. We can’t have the big final fight scene happen during the day.’ At some point, me and Tyrese fought Matt Smith. I shot for six days and none of it was shown."

"Whatever. It’s part of it [Laughs]. I really don’t care. Even though you didn’t see my scenes with Michael Keaton and Jared Leto…I did weapons training. The end product of what you’re seeing…I can’t control that," Madrigal adds in the video above. "When you have such a variety of people and opinions involved and decision-makers, it’s going to go on this path with twists and turns and you just have to let go and be cool with where it ends up. If it’s great, it’s great, if it’s not, it’s not."

None of Morbius' cast did a bad job, regardless of how much of their work we saw. When we put it to Madrigal that it would be fun to see more of Agent Rodriguez in this Marvel Universe, he confirmed that this movie was supposed to be the start of a big role for his FBI agent across multiple franchises.

"When I went out to London, they were like, ‘Congratulations, you’re the glue that holds everything together.’ We’ll see. I was hoping to be Agent Coulson, appearing in every single instalment of this Sony Marvel Universe. I don’t know if that’s going to happen. If it does, if it doesn’t it doesn’t."

It's possible Sony will look to move away from Morbius' characters after the response to the movie, but Venom's critical reaction certainly didn't slow that franchise's momentum. Hopefully, we'll see both FBI Agents in Kraven the Hunter next year, though given Madrigal's vocal desire to increase Latino representation in Hollywood, we'd love to see him cross paths with Bad Bunny's El Muerto!

As the actor says, we'll have to wait and see, but you can hear much more from him on Unplugging above (we'll be sharing the full transcription to coincide with the movie's Digital release on Friday).

Unplugging arrived in theaters on April 22 and is available on Digital and On Demand on April 29.
