There's been a lot of negative comments uprising over the Amazing Spider-Man movie.
This was the first released picture of Andrew Garfield in the new costume. One of the things people were complaining about was the fact that Andrew is a lot smaller than Tobey and makes Spider-Man look lengthy and skinny. Spider-Man is usually depicted as a pretty skinny guy. He was bitten his senior year of high school. How many nerdy photographers in high school do you see buffed up and on the juice? There are so many different series of Spider-Man where he is in fact the skinniest dude around. A perfect example would be the Ultimate Spider-Man series.
Point made? And at least give the kid a chance to be Spider-Man before you make you're assessments. Tobey did great, for the first movie. He was the perfect nerd. They started him off in high school and then magically jumped him into college in one scene, but then Spider-Man 2 and 3 came out and you can just tell that he was kinda too old to be Spider-Man. Spider-Man 3 was such a disappointment to me that I'd be the first to say a reboot is a great idea. Not as badly as Fantastic 4 needs to start from scratch, but still. This kid is young, he fits the part, he did such an amazing role in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, and won awards for his role in The Social Network, and honestly, Tobey Maguire cries too much. Kinda made Spidey seem like a tween.
You can't tell me that doesn't look good. I'd like to think that they are actually trying to keep to the original story line. The movie will be called "The Amazing Spider-Man", just like the original Spider-Man comic series. I'm stoked that they actually gave him his web-shooters instead of webs magically coming out of his wrist. I think the golden eyes are one of the best touches they did. I've never seen that done to Spider-Man before, and I know it's not original, but at the same time they needed to do something new that comic book fans wouldn't have expected. Nothing drastic like webs coming out of his wrist, but a simple eye color change was brilliant. The thing I like about the costume is that it looks very similar to the Ben Reilly Spider-Man costume.
As you can tell they look very alike. The simple point I'm trying to make is that the costume looks good and has good potential for the new Spider-Man film. I know people are still going to hate on the costume along with the movie (even though Stan Lee himself was defending it on his Twitter), but as soon as the movie comes out you won't hear that many people complaining about it anymore. So take that haters. Comment my article and tell me if you liked it or disliked it. You can email me at
