CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Concept Art Reveals That Spider-Man Nearly Wore Ben Reilly's Scarlet Spider Outfit
Marvel Studios considered a lot of different designs for Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War and concept artist Ryan Meinerding has now shared a version inspired by Ben Reilly's Scarlet Spider suit.
Captain America: Civil War didn't come too long after The Amazing Spider-Man 2 so Marvel Studios knew they had to do something different with Tom Holland's wall-crawler to make him stand out from the version played by Andrew Garfield. That included a brand new costume and as you can see below, one idea imagined by concept artist Ryan Meinerding was that he would rock this alternate look.
If you're a fan of the comic books, you'll be well aware that it was Ben Reilly's Scarlet Spider who wore this outfit when he became the new Spider-Man in Peter's absence. While this didn't make it into Civil War, the hero's homemade suit in Spider-Man: Homecoming bore a resemblance to Ben's first suit.
Whether or not we'll get The Clone Saga on the big screen is hard to say. With Sony using so many different villains in standalone spinoffs like Venom and Silver & Black, Marvel Studios could do a lot with The Jackal and characters like Ben, Kaine, and Judas Traveller. We'll just have to wait and see on that front but be sure to let us know your thoughts on this costume in the comments section.
