SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Producer On Which Villains We Definitely Won't See In The Sequels

There's a long list of comic book villains fans would like to see in future Spider-Man movies, but one of Homecoming's producers has named some big bads we can forget about in the sequels...

There is a long list of Spider-Man villains who have yet to appear on the big screen, but that doesn't stop fans from wanting to see a return for the likes of Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus. However, when Nerdist caught up with Spider-Man: Homecoming executive producer Eric Caroll and asked if we'll get to see Norman Osborn and Otto Octavius in the sequel, his answer was a disappointing one!

"We want to tread lightly with what’s been done in the past films in terms of, like, the Osborns, and things like that," he confirmed. "So I don’t think, we’re not going directly down that route
any time soon." Sadly, that makes sense, especially after that family played such a huge role in the first two Spider-Man franchises with mixed results. Alfred Molina's Doc Ock would also be hard to top, but star Tom Holland still fancies taking him on sooner rather than later.

"I love Doc Ock. I think ‘Spider-Man 2’ is one of the greatest superhero movies ever made. But I think Venom is someone I’d love to kick the crap out of one day." That last comment will make some of you very happy, but Caroll was quick to point out that Venom may not get the chance to make the leap into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the near future due to that upcoming solo outing.

"There’s a Venom movie in development. We have not been told of [any characters] we’re not allowed to play with at the moment. [Sony] do have their own plans. What it is at the moment, we’re not sure what it is after this." What do you guys think about these comments?

Raimi used the best Spider-Man villains.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - he really did

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - But I still have this feeling that Green Goblin hasn't been done right. I view him as the Joker, no matter how many Batman reboots we get you can't have the Joker not exist within that universe. Doc Ock is much more understandable since it really will be difficult to top Molina's portrayal.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - I won't argue that they are some of the best, but that's not to say we don't have a plethora of other villains that would make fantastic enemies. In fact, many have never even seen the silver screen. Here are some that I think could headline a film.

Kraven (w/ Chameleon and Calypso, please)
Hobgoblin
Mysterio
Alistair Smythe and the Spider Slayers
Morlun

Not to mention outliers that could play a Shocker-like thug role that would look amazing on screen.

Hydro-Man
Scorpion
Molten Man
The Spot
Hypno Hustler

okay...maybe going off the rails a bit here, but you get my point.

@TheRose - Morlun gonna take some balls, maybe in 10 years when the MCU itself has to "evolve or die"...

@MasterMix -
The acting was good, the armor was not.

Who the hell thought this was a good idea!

@MasterMix - I liked the Raimi Goblin armor...

It's hard to translate something as goofy and embarrassing as the comic version work into live-action, but I think Raimi's had a good balance of looking like Goblin and looking acceptable in live-action.

@Elayem - true but the alternative is a mask enhanced with CGI and based on today's tech I think they can pull it off

@Luminus - It's more comic accurate sure, but I don't think it looks better in live action honestly.
That's just me though, I think most disagree with me

@AdamWarlockHim - I was hoping to get Norman Osborne as a main villain throughout the MCU... I honestly could see Norman being a major bad for Tony Stark as well, being a competitor of Stark Industries, and NO ULTIMATE GOBLIN

Spider-Man has the best rogues next to Batman. In a way, I'm glad we won't be seeing his more famous villains. There's so many more to choose from.
