MADAME WEB Featurette Spotlights New Footage From Sony Pictures' SPIDER-MAN Spin-Off MADAME WEB Featurette Spotlights New Footage From Sony Pictures' SPIDER-MAN Spin-Off

Sony Pictures released the first trailer for Madame Web earlier today, and it looks... like a live-action (we won't lump the Spider-Verse films in there) Sony Spider-Man movie!

The teaser introduces Dakota Johnson as the clairvoyant Cassandra Webb, who we find using her abilities in an attempt to save a group of young woman, played by Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, and Celeste O’Connor, from villainous Spider-Man lookalike, Ezekiel Simms.

The girls Web is doing her best to keep safe, Julia Carpenter, Mattie Franklin and Anya Corazón, are all destined to become heroes with Spider-like powers of their own, and it looks like the main plot is going to revolve around Cassie trying to keep "Death" from catching up to them, Final Destination style.

The movie also stars Emma Roberts and Adam Scott, who are believed to be playing Peter Parker's mother, Mary, and beloved Uncle Ben. The trailer doesn't confirm this, but based on what we do see, we'd say it's most likely accurate.

The studio has followed-up the trailer with a featurette, which includes interview snippets with star Dakota Johnson and director S.J. Clarkson, who share some new details on the movie. The video also features a few new shots that weren't in the teaser, but nothing overly exciting.

Check it out at the link below, and let us know if you're looking forward to Madame Web in the comments section.

Sony also has a third Venom movie slated for Nov. 8, 2024, and Kraven the Hunter, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, coming on Aug. 30, 2024. El Muerto, which was set to star Bad Bunny, has reportedly been dropped from the schedule.

"'Meanwhile, in another universe...'" reads the official synopsis, "In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing's most enigmatic heroines." "The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures...if they can all survive a deadly present."

Clarkson, who also helmed Marvel’s Jessica Jones and The Defenders, directs from a script by Matt Sazama, Kerem Sazama and Burk Sharpless. Adam Merims executive produced.

Madame Web will swing into theaters on Feb. 14, 2024.

@bobevanz - What If looks decent though. Even if individual episodes of season 01 weren't good the concept alone warrants more exploration and it seems they're going deeper down the rabbit hole of alternate takes on those realities.

Urubrodi - 11/15/2023, 11:14 AM
@ThorArms - Something that barely any people will see can't end anything. For that you need a very hyped up movie that completely fails. For example if Secret Wars turns out to be horrible (hope not of course) that could cause the end of CBM era as we currently have it.

This is how people who don't read the comics think comic books are to the fans.

Hollywood... This isn't it.

Why don't they get a team of actual comic book fans who are respectful and articulate to coach these writers about what works and what doesn't. Because, I swear, even an untalented comic book fans could pitch a billion dollar comic book movie... It's not THAT hard.

They are throwing away money and opportunities. Ruining careers and tarnishing characters.

And it ain't even that complicated.

Jesus Christ...

@TheVandalore - Feels like Sony's just cranking this shit out to hold onto the rights. Like, if you're not gonna go for it, just sign the movie rights over to Marvel and focus on what's going well, namely video games.
