SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Star Andrew Garfield Says He Has "No Plans" To Return As Peter Parker

Where have we heard that before! Although he's well aware that nobody is going to believe him, Spider-Man: No Way Home star Andrew Garfield says there are "no plans" in place for him to return as Spidey.

Along with Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield reprised the role of Peter Parker for Spider-Man: No Way Home, but the actor was under strict instructions not to officially confirm his return during interviews, and was forced to deny all knowledge of his involvement to the press.

There have been rumors that the Tick, Tick, Boom! star is set to swing back into the SPUMC/MCU at some point, possibly even for a third TASM movie. But if he has been in talks with the studio, Garfield is back to trying to keep a lid on it!

"No plans, that’s the truth. I mean, everyone’s gonna call me a liar for the rest of my life. I am the boy who cried wolf now, that’s that," he told Variety on the red carpet of the 28th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards when asked about what might be in store for his take on the Webhead.

There may be no current plans in place for Garfield to return as Spider-Man, but after the massively positive reception to his scenes in No Way Home, it's hard to imagine Sony Pictures deciding not to do something with his take on the character down the line.

@dragon316 - the point @cyclopsprime was making is that Tobey wasnt asked about NWH cause he wasnt out promoting any movies.

@dracula - Tobey had no films to promote, so he wasnt invited to any interviews, so he was able to keep shut up about his appearance on the film.

Andrew had films to promote, so therefore he was invited to do a bunch of interviews in where he was asked about NWH, i can assure you if Andrew had no interviews, other than appearances in special events/awards shows, he would've rarely discussed NWH aswell

I could see him popping up as the SSU Spider-Man in a supporting role.

Garfield has wowed me away as the lead of many different movies over the years so kudos to him and I hope he wins an award for Tick tick boom.

But his iteration of Spider-Man, the way he plays him, has never felt like a leading character to me. He plays up too much of the love struck angle. To me, the only reason he worked so well in NWH was Bc he was a side character with great one-liners and emotional ties to Holland’s arc

Hard to believe we won’t see him again…at some point.

I wish we would see Tobey in Raimi’s Strange - like, how do you NOT have him cameo??? It’s perfect. But it won’t happen.

Sony has no incentive to allow Disney to let him cameo, they’re saving Tobey for down the road again I’m sure.

I believe him, considering Sony seems way too busy with villain spin-offs instead. Still hoping Sony also finds ways to bring Garfield (and Maguire) back

Between the overwhelmingly positive reception his return in NWH got, and the fantastic run he’s been having this award season, you can bet they’ll want him back in some capacity.

He is 39, has a serious career, an Oscar is pretty much inevitable in his near future...he is not going through all of this again...
He played Spiderman a decade ago, and none of these "fans" supported him.
