Spider-Man in the MCU.

Many people would love if Spider-man was announced to be part of the Avengers, myself included, so i wrote this article to show what the chances are of that happening. (Again, sorry for the lack of pictures,I haven't found out how to do it properly)

Spider-Man in the MCU? What a thought. It’s a happy thought for all fans. Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man in the MCU? Still a happy thought, but not for all fans. Most people who want to see Spider-Man alongside the Avengers want a brand new Spider-man that has no ties to Sony, and isn’t played by Andrew Garfield. I wouldn’t mind this, as it would give Marvel a chance to do the PERFECT Spidey film that we’ve been waiting for ever since Spider-Man 2, I would personally love if Andrew Garfield's Spidey was in the MCU, because I think Andrew is a brilliant Peter Parker/Spidey. But, i don’t think we will see Spidey in the Avengers until Sony lose the rights. But i do think it’s possible to see/hear of Spider-Man before that, before Sony lose the rights. I think that if Marvel/Sony made out a deal that somebody in one of their films can mention the name Spiderman; if someone in one of the Spider-Man films can use the word Avengers, Win/Win right? All it would take to do that would be a handshake and 2 script changes. More people would go see Sony's SM films after that, in the hope that the Avengers would actually appear, and more people would see the Avengers in the hope that Spidey would show up. That is Scenario One.

Scenario 2 would be if Sony and Disney decided to put Spidey in the Avengers, this would be harder to do, as there would have to be boundaries and guidelines laid down. I would imagine Sony would only ever do this if they were given a big sum of money, Unfortunately Disney would never do this, why would they give more money to a rival company, to fund future Spiderman films, pushing back the date they get the full rights back? Scenario 2 is out of the question.

I think Scenario One is the only way Spidey will ever be mentioned in the MCU. They could have someone mention the name Spiderman, and then never address it again, until the rights come back a couple of years (or decades) later. Then they could have the simplest of post credits scenes, Show a young boy on a school tour being bitten by a radioactive spider, while someone shouts "PETER, get away from that" , it would only take a couple of seconds to film, and they could hire the actor THEY want to play Spidey, they could actually film it in such a way that the boys face is never shown, and the best part is? They could do it legally, this way they can push back the casting until they get the full rights, while already having him established. Nobody wants to have another Spiderman film that shows his origins, we already know what happens, everyone does. Having his origin set up in less than a minute would be ideal. They could have a one-shot after that that shows the same scene, but adds on another 14 minutes, with the end on the One-shot saying "Peter Parker will return." Boom. Origin could be done in 15 minutes. They could havea solo Spiderman film without having his origin taking up half of it. All they would have to do is ask Sony can the mention his name once. Perfect and Sony could do nothing.

So everyone who wants Spidey in the MCU, don’t lose hope, it could happen sooner than we think. (Kinda)

The only way Spidey can show up in the MCU is if they reboot him. They cant use Andrew Garfield Spidey since they both exist in different versions of NY. Theres no Oscorp tower in the Avengers and theres no Stark/Avengers tower in The Amazing Spiderman 1 or 2. How do you explain where Spidey was during Avengers or where the Avengers were during The Amazing Spiderman 1 or 2?

Stop being dumb. I hate fans that think this is gonna happen. It's annoying as this scene:

"Stop being dumb." Do you even know what 'dumb' means? And saying "It's annoying as" makes no sense at all, and one other thing, Spider-Man WILL be in the MCU, Sony can't keep the rights forever. Oh and just to quote something i said above "i don’t think we will see Spidey in the Avengers until Sony lose the rights." Did you even read the editorial?

@SniktBub Deal with what?

This is how i think it could work: Marvel asks Sony for a favour; Let them mention the name Peter Parker, just once, and in return they will give a Sony a character that they own (a character they have no plans for e.g. Blade or Punisher). Sony agrees, and Marvel releases a post-credits scene of a kid on a school trip, who a radioactive spider lands on, the scene must not include any view of the front of this kid, then at the end, have someone call the name Peter Parker in a roll call. Fans now know Peter Parker exists in the MCU, there will be petitions to get Sony to give the rights back fully, and If Sony say “We only said you could use the name, not the character” Marvel can say “We only did use the name, the kid in the scene is someone else”. Sony will be pressured to give the rights back, and if everyone Boycotts Sonys next Spidey film after that, chances are they will, when they do, Marvel can release a One-Shot using the same footage from the post-credits scene, and show that the kid was one of Peters mates, and the spider climbed off him and onto Peter. And bit him on the hand. Last couple of minutes have a voiceover from the new guy who plays Peter Parker, about Uncle Ben dying and about how that inspired him to become Spider-Man.
This way when Marvel releases their Spider-Man film they can skip all the origin bullshit.
Please if you know more than me about how these things work, point out any faults, help me improve it:)

Once the MCU and Feige has stopped making a profit from these films, thats when it will end, but until then, recasts will be nothing, they will have time travel to cast actors as currant characters younger selves. Also i think i read somewhere that Sony are going down a slippery slope that leads to bankruptcy.

Am I the only one who actually likes TASM franchise and don't want to see spider-man in the MCU?

@GliderMan Do you really think the general audience or even fans would accept that Spidey was too busy to help save the city he loves from being over run by Chitauri. Honestly thats one of the stupidest things Ive ever heard.

I personally would be happy for Spidey to stay out of the MCU. Its already been rebooted once too soon. But that really is the only way Marvel could do it without complications.

Having Spider-Man as an Avenger would be a terrible idea for plenty of reasons. The only good thing about Sony owning the film rights to Spider-Man is the fact that he can't be in an Avengers movie.

sniktbud- "The MCU will end relatively soon."
what makes you think this?
also if spidey does join the MCU throw peter parker out the window and use miles morales. im fed up of peter because of sony so use miles instead.

Having Spider-Man in the same universe? Hell yeah! I think a lot of good would come from that.

i would love to see spiderman in the mcu but OH MY GOD WHO THE HELL CARES ABOUT HIM IN THE AVENGERS!?! in the comics he's just an annoying comic relief fighting in the background and with how the avengers are i really don't see how him in the avengers would be any better. i'd rather see him get his own show on netflix being a street level hero and eating a sandwish with daredevil. the interactions with him, cap and tony would be nice but him in the avengers is not my cup of tea and i really don't believe it should be yours either. it's like putting derpy hooves in the justice league. it's pretty much pointless

I personally dont want Spidey in the MCU. I like that their universes are separate. To the GA I believe the interconnecting of universes can get confusing.
MuttonMan
MuttonMan - 8/15/2014, 11:07 AM
The only way I can see a cross over happen is to go the "multiple universes" route, wherein Spidey is transported out of the Sony universe and placed in the MCU, then he can go back after he's done...

How else would you explain the fact that no one in the MCU has mentioned him, or where he was during the chitauri invasion?

Andrew Garfield is Spider-man. I enjoyed TASM and the sequel (even with it's many flaws), those are better movies than the original trilogy (except for SM2, that was great).

The problem is that in TASM2, the creative team deviated too much from the source material and we had Loser Electro and Goblin Kid. Looking the other way, we can get good things with SONY expanding their universe having Electro as hero in the future and a deeper take in the Goblin-Spider relationship.

The tone of these movies fits a lot better with the MCU and I'll really enjoy seeing the two universes as one. It'll happen, considering Marvel has the Merchandise rights to SONY's TASM movies (the reason of the good relationship between the two companies).

Where was Spidey during Avengers?....he wasn't bitten yet....but hey where were they avengers in iron man 3, Thor the dark world, cap 2 ect......who cares?

Why no spidey in age of ultron? Easy, he quit being spiderman after Gwen's death during the events of Age of Ultron.

Why no Oscorp tower in MCU? Why no Stark/avengers towers in Spidey/Sony NYC?.......just cause its not in frame, doesn't meen its not there....did we ever see the statue of liberty in the movies???....doesn't keen its not there

Easy..... He was spiderman yet when those avengers events happen

Problem solved
VaderNation
VaderNation - 8/18/2014, 10:30 PM
Ok sure he wasnt Spidey yet during the Avengers. That works. So that means the Avengers came first right? So If they link up the two franchises then they would have to explain where the Avengers were when NY was being attacked during TASM1 & 2. All Im saying is it would be allot easier for Marvel to just reboot Spidey if they get the rights back. Maybe Like what the did with Hulk and just have the origin part during the opening credits or first 5-10 mins.
NerdyMcNerd
NerdyMcNerd - 8/20/2014, 6:15 PM
@RocketRampage the same argument could be made in iron man 3, Thor the dark world and captain america the winter solder.... Where were the other Avengers???.....well, they were doing there own thing, just like they were not present during Amazing Spider man 1&2,

S.H.I.E.L.D/Hydra, are/were probably bankrolling Oscorps special projects, to create countermeasures as seen in Avengers.... They could definatly link the franchises

Imagine, Richard Parker learned of the whole Hydra thing years ago, prompting him to destroy his research and to try to run, it definatly works and could integrate very well into the MCU
