Conflicting Reports Emerge Regarding Scott Eastwood's Character In SUICIDE SQUAD

Is Scott Eastwood playing Dick Grayson, Deathstroke or an original character in Suicide Squad? One report says he's just a regular NAVY Seal while another implies there's much more to his character.

The last of the set reports from WB's meet-and-greet between the Suicide Squad cast and film journalists have finally made their way online today.  Of particular interest is what various outlets are reporting concerning the identity of Scott Eastwood's highly mysterious role in the film.  Collider reports that, "Scott Eastwood plays a Navy SEAL that’s part of the main mission alongside the Suicide Squad, not a comics character."  This certainly aligns with reports from this weekend which state Eastwood is playing a character named Lt. "GQ."

However Comicbook.com actually spoke with producer Richard Suckle who interestingly revealed that Eastwood plays an important role in the film and that at various stages of the project, his character was in-and-out of the finished screenplay.  "He's a very important part of the film and works directly alongside Colonel Flag in the mission.  That's kind of really the best way to describe it. David [Ayer] and Scott worked [together] before. Scott was in Fury.   He was sort of a last minute piece of casting by a bunch of different actors for these roles. His character was sort of existing, then it wasn't going to exist in the movie, and David wanted to bring him back. It kind of went through a back and forth and Scott just kind of naturally found a place and he had had a pre-existing working relationship [with Ayer]. "

Now things get really interesting when Suckle discusses the fact that fans have become a bit [no pun intended] fanatical about their theories regarding who Eastwood is playing.  According to the producer, he's read all of these theories and no one has managed to guess correctly.  "No one has guessed right.  I've seen some of the guesses [online] and no one has guessed right."

Now, keep in mind this set report is from  a year ago, so Suckle could very well be stating that Eastwood's playing an original character.   However, it sure seems like he's implying there's something more to Eastwood's role than playing a generic soldier.  The fact that he was in-and-out of the film and was only  confirmed at the last minute certainly jives with Eastwood playing a character that's something of an easter egg, someone who will go on to have larger role to play in future DCEU installments.   What Suckle's remarksk likely confirm is the fact that Eastwood is not playing Dick Grayson or Slade Wilson, as these two prevailing rumors are most likely the guesses that he's seen online.

Very interesting news. If he isn't Dick I'd have thought maybe a Wildcats member, that being Grifter.
