SUICIDE SQUAD: Details On 'The Joker''s Appearance; Those Tattoos Might Not Be Real After All!

Some new details have emerged about The Joker's look in the DC Cinematic Universe, and that recent image of Jared Leto apparently "isn't a genuine image and doesn't match up with how he looks on set." Wait, what? Hit the jump for details and more on those divisive tattoos he's sporting...

The reaction to the first official image of Jared Leto as The Joker was divisive to say the least. The drastically different look which included metallic teeth and tattoos upset some fans, with many convincing themselves that the tattoos all over his body were there just to celebrate the character's 75th anniversary. That's a pretty stupid theory, right? Well, perhaps not according to JoBlo.com.

The site's source apparently tells them that "the Joker image everybody is talking about isn't a genuine image and doesn't match up with how he looks on set." Hang on a second though, the image was Tweeted out by DC Comics, Suicide Squad director David Ayer, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder, and a number of others, so it's hardly a fake! What it may have been though is an attempt to trick fans as "He's missing scars (which we reported on a while back as mementos from his history with Batman) and the grill/teeth are a kind of WTF addition to the image. Our source elaborates that he's scarred on his back and arms and his skin is definitely whiter than what we see below. The tattoos are brand new if even real, and may have been added to cover up the areas where his scars will be." Nope, I'm not buying that for a second!

Warner Bros. must have known the level of coverage that the first image of The Joker in the DC Cinematic Universe would receive, and I don't buy them putting out one with a bunch of fake additions like the teeth and tattoos. That's clearly Leto and is no doubt how he'll look in the movie. Could the tats be covering scars that they don't want us to know about? Why cover them up in the first place? We'll wait and see, but as rumours go, I'm not buying into this one for a second.

I like the new look. Most of the tattoos throw it off but all in all I thought it was fresh and exciting.

That said, wouldn't mind if any of this turns out true. Would love it actually. If we don't get set-pics SDCC is where we'll probably get another look at Joker.

If they're real, awesome. If not, even more awesome.

Because then that means all that whining and crying would've been for nothing! Lol

Josh pretty much nailed it. Not buying into this, whole story seems far fetched and even started by fans to maintain damage control from the outrage.

If this turns out to be true, trolling the fanboys would be very Joker-ish.

IF this is in fact his final look, no amount of backlash would make WB change it, the movie is filming now so they've already got their costumes ready to go.

He has/had tattoos on his stomach and back which were barely visible in the promo shot. Why bother with that kind of detail if it isn't real?

WTF I ALREADY GOT "DAMAGED" TATTOOED ON MY FOREHEAD! You can at least buy me dinner before you [frick] me, Ayer.

I'm still inclined to think that at least some (if not all) of the tattoos were just there for publicity purposes - I think it's very unlikely we'll see The Joker running around with 'DAMAGED' written across his forehead, although obviously I could be wrong.

However, I think the rest of the look will be pretty much what we've seen here. I can't imagine the skin will be any paler, the hair will probably be exactly as it is here, the only thing I could see changing is maybe if they changed the tone of the lips. I also think the teeth will remain as they are in the photo, as it does tie in to the reports that this Joker has history with Batman, as well as the fact that Affleck's Batman will be much more brutal than past incarnations.

The answer to this could easily be....

We released that image for The Joker's 75th Anniversary

Then,

Here is how the Joker will look in the DCCU

BOOM!

At least, I hope that's what happens, because Leto would look amazing as a more comic-influenced Joker
