Though Nanaue did have a nasty habit of tearing people to pieces and eating them, his child-like innocence and friendship with Ratcather 2 saw him emerge as one of the more endearing members of Task Force X in The Suicide Squad.
King Shark had more than a few memorable moments, but director James Gunn has now revealed that he was also the focus of an emotional montage sequence that he reluctantly decided to scrap from the theatrical release of the film.
"I think some really great scenes that we cut out from the movie," Gunn told Collider in a new interview. "You see this moment, where King Shark is looking out the window, and he sees a young couple kissing. And you realize in that moment, hopefully just how he's not a part of this world and how he longs to be a part of this world. That actually was a much longer sort of montage. That is really beautiful, and I really like in and of itself. Again, it was at the wrong place in the movie."
We do actually see the start of this scene when Nanaue spots the couple from the bus window, but it cuts away before the montage. Gunn also revealed that there was some stuff with The Thinker (Peter Capaldi) and Polka-Dot Man (David Dastmalchian) outside the bar that he hated to cut, but there's a good chance it'll all end up on the Blu-ray release.
