SUICIDE SQUAD Director David Ayer Confirms A Surprising Joker And Harley Quinn Fan Theory

With so much of Suicide Squad left on the cutting room floor, there are a tonne of theories about what director David Ayer originally had planned for these characters. Now, though, he's confirmed another!

The #ReleaseTheAyerCut movement remains as vocal as ever on social media, and one Suicide Squad fan recently gained quite a bit of attention for sharing a compelling theory about the 2016 release.

Sharing some photos from behind the scenes of the DC Comics adaptation, they pointed out a that a mysterious woman wearing a red dress in a scene with The Joker was completely cut from David Ayer's movie. Believing that the Clown Prince of Crime may have kidnapped random girls and forced them to dress up as Harley Quinn, the Twitter user (whose theory can be found in full below) theorized that the villain later killed these stand-ins.

Well, Ayer has now weighed in on this, and confirmed that the fan theory is indeed correct.

This adds another twisted element to The Joker, and it might have helped that weird scene - where he's surrounded by guns and baby clothes - make a little more sense. Unfortunately, the relationship between him and Harley was somewhat watered down in Suicide Squad's theatrical cut.

Check out this theory, and Ayer's response, below:

@tmp3 - This was actually a plot from the New 52 comics if I'm not mistaken. Joker would get several Harley's or something. It wasn't that popular there either though.

But it does kinda make sense though and show something about the abusive relationship. So it's not a terrible idea.

I mean... that scene IS in TNBA, but it's very out of context. It is a dark and shocking moment, but in an episode otherwise homaging a Silver Age Joker story, The Joker's Millions, and is done very briefly where her back is turned, the Joker enraged raises his gun, and the henchmen stops him immediately. She survives for the rest of the episode and is arrested at the end, so why are people trying to take the most grim dark interpretation of every incarnation?!

So Ayer is basically confirming that Jokeleto, is a cringy, obsessive, beta cuck, who is so desperate to keep Harley Quinn in his life that he pretends he doesn’t want her at first but when she is gone, he can’t go a [frick]ing day without her in his presence and puts her on a pedestal.

This doesn’t seem like someone just watched The New Batman Adventures and took a concept and added it to the film. Or even adapted it WELL.

WHO THE HELL DECIDED TO TAKE A TUMBLR FAN FIC AND TURN IT INTO A SCREENPLAY??

the Twitter user (whose theory can be found in full below) pointed out that it was likely the villain later killed these stand-ins.

Of course he does.

He's all edge and no point.

I don’t think it’s him confirming it as much as not refuting it
