SUICIDE SQUAD Director David Ayer Says He Watched His Cut Of The Movie & It's "F*cking Amazing"

We're not sure if we'll ever actually get to see a director's cut of Suicide Squad, but we do know it exists! David Ayer has now taken to Twitter to praise his original version of the movie...

David Ayer began to tease his original version of Suicide Squad around the same time Zack Snyder's Justice League was officially announced, and has continued to gain support for his director's cut of the divisive DC Comics movie since.

Ayer has always maintained that Warner Bros. made extensive alternations to his film, and that the theatrical release differed considerably from his original vision for Task Force X. The filmmaker has strongly hinted that a director's cut does exist in the past, but he's now revealed that he's watched it "for the first time since it was abandoned," and that "it is f*cking amazing."

Ayer also claims that it's tonally much closer to that incredible first trailer that screened at SDCC.

Whether we actually get to see a director's cut of Suicide Squad remains uncertain, but it may very well depend on how the "Snyder Cut" of Justice League does when it comes to HBO Max next year.

What do you make of Ayer's comments? Would you be interested in seeing his original take on Suicide Squad?

Oh stuff it ayer. What's he gonna say? My cut was awful? No sorry after stuff like brightburn the ayer cut is something I have no interest in seeing. People say the Snyder cut is bad? At least it will be interesting. Ayer won't have that.

@Nightwing1015 - hell for it to be fare, how about the whedon cut, before the studio made him cut it to 2 hours. If he reshot as much as people say, then it should be very different

I doubt it. I stand behind my own creative writing, and would hate to see it butchered, but he has been so all over the place about the product that it's hard to take him seriously. And the little bit that we got of his Joker was cringey enough.

@MosquitoFarmer - I don't want to doubt it, but you have some very good points.

I miss the times when articles about bad movies stopped coming out after the movie release

@HannibalLecter - Lol. Yeah. But to be fair, directors never really used to come out and complain about how good their uncut versions would have been.

And I find it weird that Snyder made all those claims early on that he had basically filmed a complete movie and it just needed some effects work. Then when it was finally announced they would release his version, suddenly he needs to film new scenes. If he needed to film nee scenes then he didn't have a complete film, did he? Lol

@HannibalLecter - ...but everything changed when the Snyder cult attacked!

The guy needs to go back to his strengths, writing about people in authority abusing or suffering through their responsibilities. That’s literally his ball park. Stick to it. Don’t be making some sh*tty gritty gangster movies, or jump on the bandwagon of mediocre film cuts. Snyder, whatever you think of him, at least has ground to stand on with his three directed entries and numerous produced instalments to generate a buzz.

Leave this in the past. Go back to directing and writing character driven films about the simplistic and controversial lives of common people. I swear the guys gifted in that region when he’s just dealing with real hitting characters, in real hitting situations.

@Se4M4NSt4ine - in fact, I bet the guy would direct or write the shit out of a great political movie. Wish someone in Hollywood just shut his failing ass career up. Before it’s too late.
