Last night brought the sad news that director-producer Richard Donner passed away at the age of 91, and tributes from those who worked closely with the legendary filmmaker over the years have been pouring in since.
Now, fan-favorite poster artist Drew Struzan has shared a stunning portrait of Christopher Reeve's Man of Steel to pay homage to Donner's classic Superman movies. He added the tagline, "#RichardDonner made us believe a man could fly."
While Struzan never actually released an official poster for Superman or its sequel, he did provide one-sheets for two of Donner's other movies, and also took to Twitter to share his now iconic artwork for LadyHawke and The Goonies.
Struzan officially retired as a regular movie poster artist back in 2008 after completing the extensive artwork required for the campaign of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and while he does occasionally still produce specially commissioned posters (for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, for example), it's a rare treat for fans to see any of his recent pieces.
