Tarsem Singh and Zack Snyder are actually film school peers having attended Art Centre College of Design in California [along with Michael Bay]. It makes you wonder if that particular school produces a certain "aesthetical eye" in it's graduates as both Singh and Snyder cast Cavill in their respective feature films, Immortals and the upcoming Superman reboot Man of Steel. Here's what Singh had to say about Cavill as Supes [courtesy of Digital Spy]:

"I think he's about the best Superman you could ever have," said Singh. "When I first saw him [this was before I knew he [auditioned] for Superman, because the last Superman had been made a year and a half before Immortals and tanked ] I said, 'This is Clark Kent!'"

Tarsem, goes on to say that fellow film school alum Zack Snyder would have to be "blind not to see how right [Cavill] was for [the role]".

"He's very gentle, manly, just everything was perfect for it," Tarsem said of Cavill. "He was so excited when he got it but I didn't doubt for a second that he wouldn't get it."

In speaking about whether he would ever like to jump into the comic book movie arena, Tarsem expressed some hesitancy about the genre but did reveal that he finds the DC Comics character Constantine, very interesting. "There was one thing that I was interested in long ago, not so much the look of the comic book but the character - that was Constantine. I wouldn't be interested because it was a comic strip, it would just be if I had [to do ]a take on something."

Man of Steel is an upcoming superhero film under the development of Zack Snyder, Christopher Nolan, and David S. Goyer. Based on the DC Comics character Superman, the film will be a reboot of the Superman film series. Using Chicago and Vancouver as a backdrop, with production to be based in west suburban Plano, Illinois, the film entered principal photography in August 2011, for a planned theatrical release on June 14, 2013 by Warner Bros., which also includes IMAX venues.

Clark Kent is a journalist in his twenties who was adopted as a child by Martha and Jonathan Kent when he was transported to Earth from the dying alien planet Krypton. Kent, raised with the values of his adoptive parents, feels alienated because of his unique super abilities and struggles to find his place in life. When the world is attacked, he becomes the hero, Superman, to protect its people.
