On the heels of Netflix renewing The Witcher for a Fourth Season, Henry Cavill quits the role of Geralt of Rivia, and has Liam Hemsworth replace him as The White Wolf.
Henry Cavill has been all over the news since his return as Superman was made official last Monday. And the news continues to hit as Henry Cavill took to Instagram this morning to announce his retirement of Geralt in the Netflix series The Witcher. Cavill, played the lead role over the past 2 seasons with an upcoming third season next year. The fourth season will see him put down the medallion and two swords, and will ultimately see Liam Hemsworth, best known for The Hunger Games series, take on the role of The White Wolf.
Netflix’s live-action adaptation of the popular Witcher books and video games first started airing on the majorly popular streaming serivce in 2019 and quickly exploded in popularity, with many praising Henry Cavill’s stoic but charming take on the white-haired witcher himself, Geralt. This took Cavill's Hollywood attritibutes to a whole new level. In the first season, The Witcher has become a hugely successful franchise for Netflix, leading to more seasons, anime, movies, and even action figures. But the star of the original series won’t be sticking around as the fantasy franchise grows.
According to the Witcher's Twitter, they said
It’s official: The Witcher is returning for Season 4, and Henry Cavill will be handing his swords to Liam Hemsworth as the new Geralt of Rivia after Season 3. Welcome to the Witcher family, @LiamHemsworth!

Some news to share from The Continent…
My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4. In my stead, the fantastic Mr Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam's take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men.
Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find.
It seems as though Superman will ultimately take up all of Cavill's time, and we're most likely seeing a lot more of The Man of Steel in the upcoming years.
