Actor Laurence Fishburne walks to a vehicle in a parking lot used for cast and crew members of the new Superman movie "Man of Steel" at the corner of Wacker Drive and Van Buren Street during filming in Chicago. (Chris Sweda, Chicago Tribune/Sept. 7, 2011)

According to Crains, the inside of Willis Tower will serve as the Daily Planet (where Superman's alter ego, reporter Clark Kent, works) and the outside of the Chicago Board of Trade building will serve as the newspaper building's exterior.

As for the parking lot, the only thing visible early in the afternoon was a clothing rack with a "School Bus 1992" sign on it. A CBS Chicago cameraman, however, claimed he spotted "Man of Steel" actor Laurence Fishburne pulling into the lot.

Other than that -- and a green truck parked on South Wells Street with a "Serving the Smallville Community Since 1894" sign on it -- it was a mostly quiet shoot. - By Luis Gomez

That is your new Perry White! Clark Kent's boss is being played by Morpheus and if I remember correctly when that casting news came out the CBM community was about ninety-nine percent overjoyed with the news. Enjoy!

As for the update about the school bus with the 1992 sign, that could be from the school bus crash scene. Not sure why it would be in metropolis though. Who knows maybe their having a reunion scene in the movie.

Man Of Steel, starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Julia Ormond, Russell Crowe, Laurence Fishburne with Christopher Meloni and Harry Lennix, the reboot is slated for theaters June 14th, 2013!

@Otisburg Shut the [frick] up and blow bubbles. I swear every DC article you talk shit with no logic of anything what so ever.
Anyway this movie is looking good in my book. A black Perry White is not that big of a deal.

@patriautism No bullshit. The guy talks right out his ass. Kevin Costner is the [frick]ing man. Not to mention Fishburne has a nice track record as well. Just go look at Hoodlum and Deep Cover, some of my all time favorite Fishburne films.

Loved Lane Smith as Perry White. The guy nailed it. Fishburne is a great actor and I'm sure he will be a great Perry White. As for the Costner hater, you do realize that Kevin Costner is the man who made Westerns enjoyable again, right? Nobody else could have done that. His hits FAR outweigh his misses.

Otisburg proves anyone who types with capslock on is stupid.

Loving this casting.

*hopes this doesn't devolve into an article of White ragers making comments like "What if they made a white Black Panther!?!"

It has been a while since Costner was in anything good, but with this and Django Unchained I'd say he's on the comeback trail.

I wouldn't mind him looking all cool and scruffy for the movie, but...How do we know this is what he'll look like in the movie? For all we know he just rocked up to set like that and the make-up people will give him a shave.

i'm not sure if anyone remembers it but there was a really old movie with a young larry fishborn, it was called "a hero ain't nothing but a sandwich", i'd have to say thats my favorite one of his. as for costner his movies in my opinion are entertaining i just don't think he's a great actor, better then mediocer(no clue if thats spelled right) but not top notch. as papa kent i think he'll do fine. i just kind of wish crowe played zod but like i said my opinion.

@KingSaphron: Costner does his best work when he's the all-american values/justice guy/baseball player and you can't get more all-american than Pa Kent. He should be pretty awesome. I can just imagine Kevin playing baseball with Clark, maybe catch. I initially thought he was too young but then I got to thinking how old Kevin actually is and it's not a concern anymore.

@Patriautism Sorry to burst your bubble but news directors, producers, and news editors are not out in the field too terribly often if ever outside of a segment producer. People out in the field are what you call reporters

@TheGod(CENSORED)Superguy. When comics randomly change the race of a character for no particular reason it just screams heres your token black guy. To me that seems more insulting than anything else to the black commnunity. Its also pure laziness on the writers part not creating a new characters than just throwing out a random bone.

Seriously if they made a Malcom X movie and they casted Jim Carrey in the role for no particular reason people wouldnt say something?

I agree there are not enough non white characters in comics. But I have to say why is it always black? They never racechange to chinese, korean, or indian etc.

It wasnt too long ago that actors were cast both for the acting they brought to the roll AND the look for the role. I mean imagine if Pee Wee Herman was the best actor in the world for a sec. Would they go and cast him as Indiana Jones? Probably not. People that question casting of a character that was on a whim changed races does not make them a Racist. its just them saying (hypothetically) why pee wee was casted as Indiana Jones?

CBMs seem to change basic premises from the source material on a whim and despite the actual quality of the movie overall it ruins something deep down inside the movie. DD had a black kingpin, spiderman had organic webshooters, the hulk majored on Bruces dad! Xmen didnt have the key characters, in green lantern Carol deduces that GL is Hal J almost immediately. Why do they do this? It makes no sense to me that they need to change basic premises, its just because they can and that detracts from the base storyline that the original fans go to see the film for in the first place. Those that see the film without having an interest in the comics would never have known anyway so just what is the point? Im sorry but Perry White was White, simple, non racist comment, why cast him with a black guy even though LF is an excellent actor, thats not the way it was supposed to be. we will have superman with no red pants next FFS.................oops, we already have that dont we?
