MAN OF STEEL Contained A Doomsday Easter Egg Teasing His BATMAN v SUPERMAN Arrival

The big news out of Zack Snyder's Man of Steel watch party was HBO Max deciding to #ReleaseTheSnyderCut in 2021, but the filmmaker also revealed a cool Doomsday Easter Egg in Man of Steel!

Man of Steel was a divisive movie, but early scenes on Krypton were widely praised, with some fans arguing that Warner Bros. should release a spinoff set on the dead planet. Yesterday morning, filmmaker Zack Snyder held a Man of Steel watch party which has since been overshadowed by that big Justice League news, but there was a big reveal in there about Doomsday.

That monstrous creature killed Clark Kent in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and was a transformed version of General Zod created by Lex Luthor. However, there were hints that wasn't the first "Doomsday," and Snyder confirmed as much during his live commentary.

Pointing out a broken moon in the background, Snyder explained that, in his mind, a past version of Doomsday had destroyed it. That was meant to foreshadow the existence of Superman's most dangerous enemy, but the director admits that he was unsure at this point whether he would get the chance to make a sequel which is why it wasn't a more direct reference to his existence.

Snyder has previously confirmed that the original Doomsday does exist in the DC Extended Universe, while Man of Steel scribe David S. Goyer actually destroyed one of the planet's moons when the heroes in Krypton were battling Doomsday. Now, we know where the idea came from!

That's a pretty cool Easter egg.

Not as cool as my Tenga eggs, but still cool.

Now is this the original intention or something he just though up later on and passing it off as a reference, considering they didnt always know Doomsday was going to show up next

@dracula - that’s something we’ll never know for sure.

@L0RDbuckethead - I mean it follows the exact posting pattern. Taking one source article/interview and creating several posts from it.

Basically what he’s saying: “see that door open over there behind Lois in the Fortress of Solitude? Yeah that’s the door Darkseid was gonna walk through in Justice League 7: Electric Boogaloo. I always envisioned that from the start, yeah...”

"early scenes on Krypton were widely praised, with some fans arguing that Warner Bros. should release a spinoff set on the dead planet"

They did. It was good. No one watched it.
Sure it wasnt a direct spin-off but you can tell it took a lot of inspiration from MoS.

They also had an amazing Doomsday.

Hell the even destroyed the moon on that show too.

What is the point of an original Doomsday? They're not going to have him kill Superman AGAIN. So he may as well not exist. We've already seen that fight and I'm not sure how keen anyone is to repeat it.

@Nightwing1015 - maybe the “Original Doomsday” would’ve tied in to the Lantern Corp of the past or maybe some Thanagarians came across him before he destroys their planet or something.

Zack Snyder is so full of it!!!!

First if he was on Krypton, then Doomsday would not be super powered. So how then could he destroy a moon? Did he build a bomb.

People need to remember who Zack Snyder is...he gave this world one of the worst superhero films ever made - Batman V Superman. That should say it all.

@Forthas - Wasn't Doomsday superpoweredfrom the get-go though? Like, he was genetically created as the perfect weapon who'd die and come back stronger than before?
Forthas
Forthas - 5/21/2020, 6:00 AM
@Franshu - It is HIGHLY suggested that the Doomsday in the film is super powered in the same way as Superman so therefore from the same source. So previous versions would likewise not have superpowers in a Krypton environment.

He is making EVERYTHING up as he goes...hes been doing that for years when it comes to these. I can see him now "Oh man that would have been better than what i originally wrote"....off to twitter. This snyder cut is going to be NOTHING like what he wanted years ago. It is going to be a bunch of convoluted crap he THINKs is cool but no one will get cause everything is "In his Mind".

Does no one remember the Doomsday easter egg in the Man of Steel DVD? Among the Kryptonian it flickered in English:
"We remember those who fell during the Last War"
"Beware Bertron's curse, for he is named Doomsday"

He definitely was thinking of Doomsday already while making Man of Steel. It's a shame we got the one we got, but hey. He's not making this up.

"in his mind, a past version of Doomsday had destroyed it."

Snyder is a misunderstood genius. Snyder doesn't just include Easter Eggs like a normal filmmaker would, he imagines something in his mind and none of us have the IQ to keep up with him.

This is a very clear example of how this guy makes his movies. Focuses and spends too much time on the shit that doesn't matter and ignores the stuff that do.

What he actually said was that Doomsday destroyed the moon in the comics so he put it there to imply he was out there, which actually tracks with what implied in Batman V Superman where the ship tells him how to make Doomsday and implies it’s existed before
