The past couple of weeks, I've been covering several rumors indicating that the Batman: Arkham Origins developer, WB Games Montreal, may currently be working on a Superman game. Here's basically a summary of what we know:

Now we have new concept art for the game that was leaked on Reddit. The concept art features a new photo of Superman, the same photo of Brainiac that was leaked before, a mind controlled Doomsday, and what looks to be concept art of an ingame scene that could take place in space I'm guessing. Take a look.


If you're wondering what the text over the photo could be about and who is Robic, doing some research the Robic likely the image is for is a company called of course, ROBIC. It's an Intellectual Property firm located in of course Montreal, Québec, Canada. Which is where WB Games Montreal game studio is of course located.

Under the concept art, it states that the title for the game may be Superman: Unbound. Now it's unlikely that will be the title. First off it's worth noting that there was an animated film called Superman: Unbound which featured Brainiac as the main villain. It could be just the tentative title for the game like how when Assassin's Creed: Syndicate leaked, it's tentative title was Assassin's Creed: Victory.  So what are your thoughts on the concept art? I actually like how Superman looks in this. I know many will disagree, but I like it. Doomsday and Braniac however, could use some more work.

A good superman game can not be made, it is simply impossible. The flying mechanics will not work 100%, and how do you make it fun when he is invincible.

Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, the Flash, Green Lantern and more would all make better games

@BigFoster there's many things that can hurt Superman. He isn't truly invulnerable to damage, he's just really really tough. Plenty of people can inflict physical harm to him. And why would he need to go around the entire planet? Batman doesn't even get to explore the entirety of Gotham in most of his games. They can make a city big enough to still give you the sense of flying and speed and freedom.

Also given that WB Games Montreal is working on it and the designs for Batman, Joker, Bane, Deathstroke, Black Mask, and others for Arkham Origins were [frick]ing awesome; it's likely this is one of many possible concept art designs for Superman, Doomsday, and Brainiac in the game. Unlikely the final design but that Brainiac design is [frick]ing perfect and should be used.

Doomsday is nothing but a plot device for Superman to fight. He's not a main villain type of villain. Brainiac likely will be the main villain.

How to make a Superman game.

Use similar combat buttons like Batman but combat would be different. Stuns could be like a light hit of heat vision.
Use flying mechanics from I would say Rouge Squadron because that was my favorite flying game ever and also take nods from the Batman arkham.
Having X-Ray vision be Detective Mode. In order for it not to be OP, have all the buildings be made out of lead and say Luthor rebuilt buildings that way.
Use powers like how you use Batman's quickfire gadgets which would only really be heat vision and ice breath.

And you basically got the controls of Superman down just like that.

If you wanted my pitch for a story I got 2 ideas:

Darkseid related idea maybe which would include Parademons, Granny Goodness, Kalibak, and the female Furries. All of them would be able to take on Superman.

Zod opening a portal from the Phantom Zone unleashing all the criminals from there like Last Son. All criminals would be able to take on Superman.

I mean sure they sound the same but considering we just want at least one good Superman game, I'd say the premise of using one of those 2 is a great start IMO to get the ball rolling.

I mean in just that pitch, all the problems of previous Superman games are solved. He would be able to use all his powers, he would be able to fight criminals who can hurt him, and you wouldn't need to nerf him or depower him.

I guess I have to say it. Remember, this is "CONCEPT ART" they are drawing up ideas and I'm 100% sure that there are 100 more different versions of concept art for these characters.

Great news I have wanted a new Superman game for years. Its cool that Brainiac is in it. And I really like the designs Superman looks good. Setting some of the game in space would be good too. Can't wait

Superman looks like Channing Tatum, which is kind of funny. Both he and Brainiac are fine, but that Doomsday is terrible. Looks like something from an iOS game.

i don't see how you can have flying mechanics work where you need to be able to fly at incredible speeds in absolutely every direction, making hairpin turns at speed, stop on a dime and start traveling in another direction that is not simply left right up down or backwards. You need to hit every direction in between. All the while you need to be able to shoot eye lasers in directions that are not just forward. Plus in air fighting mechanics. I don't see it working well enough to be fun, without compromising the feeling of actually being superman

There are some really cool ways to integrate Brainiac into this universe after they pulled the whole alien invasion story in MOS. I hope they start planting the seeds... it would be stupid for Brainiac to just show up on his own later on in the series... why are aliens so attracted to Earth??? They need to tie all this in with Zod coming... even Doomsday could be explained in connection to ZOD... which we all seem to be thinking are his new origin...

HA HA. Doomsday has pants. The Thing in FF4 doesn't have even pants!
