Robert Zemeckis Considering Directing Superman?

Robert Zemeckis Considering Directing Superman?

Admittedly the notion of Robert Zemeckis considering Superman is merely a line within a different report at Deadline.com, but it seemed worth mentioning anyway.

In the story, the site is reporting that that Back to the Future trilogy director Zemeckis is considering a new time travel adventure called Timeless. Says Deadline, "It's a big tent pole picture that will be written by Mike Thompson. Zemeckis and his ImageMovers will produce. Deal is mid six-figures. Zemeckis and Image Movers have been cozy-ing up with Warner Bros since Disney shuttered its Marin County animation facility ImageMovers Digital earlier this year. Even though Zemeckis once seemed comfortable directing pictures exclusively in the 3D performance capture process he pioneered in Polar Express, Beowulf, A Christmas Carol and the upcoming Beatles pic Yellow Submarine, Zemeckis has lately been rumored to be kicking the tires on such live action projects as Superman."

While hardly a proclamation that he is even in the running, it nonetheless raises an interesting possibility. What are the thoughts regarding Zemeckis as a possible director for Man of Steel?

He needs to reboot Back to the Future already...

It's strong and it's sudden and it's cruel sometimes
but it might just save your life

Just because he did a good back to the future, doesn't mean he can do a great Superman film. So I don't know...I have mixed feelings on this.

@ patriautism Now what kind of Bullshit comment to reboot BTTF? The first film is a classic and should never be touched. It would have been nice if the other two films were better but, whats done is done. I am not a really big fan of rebooting unless its Superman but BTTF is a Sci Fi Classic that needs no reboot.

Robert Zemeckis

Romancing the Stone
The Back to the Future Trilogy
Cast Away
Forrest Gump
Contact
The Polar Express
Beowulf
Episodes from Tales from the Crypt

This directors movie credentials speak for themselves.
He is a consumate Sci Fi Director, who knows how to manipulate, Science Fiction, Drama and Action. Which is the hardest thing to balance when making a movie about big blue. It would be amazing to have R. Z. give us a Superman Film.

Zemeckis doesnt sound like a guy who would work perfectly with Nolan!:/... Darren Aronofsky if you ask me

Zemeckis can pretty much do it all so, yes. Plus, like him or not, no one's mentioned that he is the 'Oscar Winning Director' of "Forest Gump". A credit not too many CBMs and/or their director's (even the great ones) can claim.

Cmon Superman, we have to go back.... TO THE FUTURE!

Back to the Future trilogy and Who Framed Roger Rabbit were both fantastic but what has he done lately? But I hope they are seriously considering him anyway because he is talented

No doubt he'd make a fun romp! I'm sure it would be a great movie. But for anyone wanting a slightly different take on the man of steel than we have already seen, I'm not sure. But then again I'm an unashamed like(not LOVER)of Superman Returns so what do I know;)

@patriautism
Take that back! Theres enough shitty remakes, I dont want to see Back to the Future [frick]ed up too. The originals were classics, they should never be touvhed again, thats whats wrong with Hollywood, too much remakes and reboots

Damn right Hellmont!

@ deathmetalbrian Im sure that your top ten are different from everyone elses? Those films have nothing to do with having a Top ten or not they are some of the films that Zemeckis Directed.

So do urself a favor and go find a Top Ten Post and please feel free to post ur top ten there? :)

The BTTF reboot is inevitable.
I simply want RZ and not some other schmuck, to direct it.

Seems like a lot of people aren't familiar with Robert Zemeckis outside of Back to the Future. He's a solid director who has also done:

Death Becomes Her
Forrest Gump
Castaway
Beowulf <----- One of my Fav's
The Polar Express
A Christmas Carol

My number 1 choice is still Ror's suggestion of STEVEN SPIELBURG, but i really wouldn't hate it if he got the chair...
