SUPERMAN: Fan-Made Unreal Engine 5 Demo Is The Man Of Steel Video Game We've All Been Dreaming Of

A gamer has made use of the Unreal Engine 5 engine to create a Superman video game, and it shows the Man of Tomorrow exploring Metropolis before heading into outer space. This look seriously epic, folks...

Unreal Engine 5 promises to be a game-changer for future video games, with a demo released to tie into The Matrix Resurrections offering a glimpse into just how photorealistic they'll eventually look. Some gamers have used that to create their own versions of what the future could hold in store for us, with this effort focusing on DC Comics' Superman!

Comic book fans have spent years clamouring for a new Superman game, with rumours swirling that Arkham trilogy developers Rocksteady was developing one prior to Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League being announced. Sadly, that didn't pan out, though the hero will appear in the game revolving around Task Force X.

Making a video game revolving around the Man of Steel is no easy feat, but this demo shows the potential one could have if done well. It starts with Superman flying through Metropolis before heading high above the city and into space. From there, Kal-El lands on the moon in what looks like a true "open-world" adventure.

The challenge for any developer would be dialling the hero's powers back to a point where he's not some kind of unstoppable force. After all, a literal open-world game isn't close to becoming a reality at this stage, so how would Superman be confined to Metropolis...and not fly from one end of the city to the other in a matter of seconds?

Then, there's the issue with combat, as any opponent the Man of Tomorrow faces would need to be formidable enough to pose a challenge to the world's strongest superhero.

Only time will tell whether a game like this gets made, but there's currently no indication that DC Studios is plotting a title revolving around the character. That could change, of course, especially as James Gunn and Peter Safran are said to be plotting out a shared world of projects encompassing movies, TV shows, and new video games.

Take a look at this Superman demo (via GameFragger.com) in the player below.

Now I know Josh is trolling us. This is like.... a year old. And not news.

This has had a scam steam page for like almost a year or whatever leasing it as a full price title. Youtubers have covered this in depth like a fluff pieces almost a year ago....

This is unfathomably, hilariously, brutally bad on Josh.

Creating an Unreal Engine demo is easy. Making a well-balanced video game is another story.

Jesus man, this is ancient stuff. You missed the story, let it go. At least pretend to be a bit professional.

Couple of issues:
1. Capes don't flap in space
2. Supes legs shouldn't be fluttering around like an old man when flying if he truly is the 'man of steel'
3. Supes landing and having the impact of a normal person makes little sense

PS: Unreal demos have been around for some time... if you want to start posting those with heroes in them, choose better ones.

It looked cool. Now I wish they did that but with other DC characters as well.

This is the same re-skinned footage from like 3 years ago. And it always has the same caption: The Superman Game we’ve all been waiting on.

Whenever alpha builds are shown I'm reminded of a famous saying.

Truly he was ahead of his time.

Off-topic: More information about what was happening with Black Adam and Henry Cavill's return.

But this part is ridiculous.

"Given that Miller has stayed out of trouble since beginning mental health treatment in the summer, some executives are amenable to continuing with the actor as the world-saving speedster after “The Flash” bows on June 16."

If Gunn and Safran even allow this it'll just create more division and will just be giving Ezra an entire free pass. And the chances of Gunn's Peacemaker being said that it'll be also allowed to continue as they're soft-rebooting things...doesn't pain a fair picture either.
