TMNT: Utrom Shredder? maybe the movie might not be as bad as people say.

There's been growing speculation that the new TMNT movie will feature the Utrom Shredder, and William Fichtner's Interview hints at it.

As some of you know there's been new pictures leaked/revealed about the new TMNT movie, Particularly the Shredder. However recent speculations hint at it being the Utrom Shredder.

SPOILERS up Ahead. This info and story background for Utrom Shredder is mainly from the 2003 TMNT animated show.

For those who aren't aware or know about the Utrom Shredder
http://turtlepedia.wikia.com/wiki/Ch'rell_(2003_TV_series)

Utrom Shredder is an Alien Intergalactic Criminal by the name of Ch'rell, who has killed millions of people, committed mass genocide and caused wars on several planets.

The Utroms captured Ch'rell and were taking him the Utrom Homeworld where he would face trial and eventually be imprisoned.
He escaped en-route and sabotaged the ship. They crash landed on Earth, hundreds of years before the turtles' present time.

Realizing that the Utroms were stuck on earth for the time being, they built Exo suits from the wreckage that looked like humans so that they could blend in with the earthlings.

Ch'rell eventually gets one of these exosuits, and ends up in feudal Japan taking on the name of "The Shredder". He painted the 3-toe sign of the dragon on the exosuits chest, and that how his Foot clan eventually got started.

Fast Forward (pun intended) to the 20th century and earth technology has advanced quite a lot. The Utroms (the good ones) run a company called TCRI that is the world's leader in tech (since they're very technologically advanced).

On a fateful day, one of the Utroms experiment (AKA The Ooze) is in a van that almost runs over a child holding a container with 4 turtles in.
The kid drops the container and the turtles along with the Ooze fall into a sewer.

In the Show, Splinter was a pet rat to a Ninja by the name of Hamato Yoshi.
Hamato Yoshi was a "Guardian" of the Utroms on earth, which would help in protecting the Utroms. He eventually dies at the hand of the Shredder.
This is how he eventually teaches or at least introduces them to Ninjutsu. Also in the show Splinter takes the turtles to Japan to learn more.

William Fichtner in an interview recently said
"Well I play a guy named Eric Sachs and we find out that Eric Sachs is somebody else too. I can’t give away too much in the story but I can tell you that who Shredder is in the telling of this Turtles is unlike any telling of the story before. His connection and relationship to the turtles is a bit surprising."

Obviously the Shredder will be named Eric Sachs instead of Oroku Saki, Which is fine in my opinion since Utrom Shredder had lots of aliases.

This Speculation that its the Utrom Shredder is further supported by William's interview, and early rumors that the turtles would be aliens.
My theory on the alien turtle thing is that some info may have leaked that their origin would be alien, due to the ooze being created by aliens, and perhaps fans misunderstood that as the turtles actually being aliens.

In my opinion, if the TMNT movie takes the Utrom Shredder storyline route, then it provides a more acceptable origin with the Ooze being created by far more technologically advanced species known as the Utroms.
It also provides a much better connection to the Shredder and the Ninjutsu martial arts.

But the biggest beneficiary of going with this story route is that it adds more depth. It allows much more expansion in terms of story as well.
One of the things about the show was that the Shredder exo suit "Evolved" as time went on. He started out as classic shredder, then goes into a more refined suit, and he even had a Four arm exo suit.

So in my opinion people shouldn't be quick to call this a bad movie in the making. I think the Utrom storyline is very interesting and could add a lot more to the movie. I personally dont think it will be as bad as people are making it out to be, but in the meantime ill reserve judgement until I see the movie.

Pardon any formatting mistakes, this is my first article.

@Soto
Im not jumping ahead of myself, but if Speculation is right, then maybe the movie wont be as bad as people are making it out to be.
I'm also trying to explain what the Utroms are for the fans who haven't seen the 2003 series, so they could understand better.

I haven't seen a trailer yet either, but with the recent photos (Shredder, and what the turtles will actually look like) it showed me at least that they aren't going in a bad direction.

Speaking of directions, Im personally glad that they went CGI on the turtles. I dont think regular make up on an actor would do it justice.

I can live with Utrom Shredder. And William Fitchner is a good actor. I just have problems with him playing Shredder (and to a lesser extent, Danny Woodburn playing Splinter)

Utrom Shredder? Sounds Swedish.
If these rumors are true, then I'm very much on board with this film.
Between this, Karai and the look of the turtles, my faith is slowly being
restored in this film.

Bring on Ninja Turtles 2: Age of Utroms!!!

I was a fan of Turtles growing up and still am today. I am optimistic for this movie only because Michael Bay is NOT directing. Yes he is producing it, but Jonathan Liebesman has done some solid movies and we all really need to trust him as a director and his direction of the movie. There will most certainly will be some BOOM-BOOM-Bay influences, but I believe that we will be in for an entertaining and intriguing story.

MCott@ Yup, their was some information regarding the upcoming TMNT toys and their were two seperate versions of Karai. One of them was obviously the Karai from the new cartoon and the other Karai was in with the Movie toys. Also, there was a rumor, months back, that Karai was going to be in the film and that she would be in charge of the Foot and working for Eric Sachs. A bit like her relationship to Winters in the 2007 TMNT animated movie.
