Back in April, it was reported that Grammy Award-winning musician Jack White, lead vocalist/guitarist for White Stripes, had been hired to compose the score for Walt Disney Pictures' upcoming action-western film The Lone Ranger. However, in credits at the end of the recently released theatrical trailer (which you can watch below), a new composer for the Gore Verbinski-directed movie has been named. And that composer is none other than the highly prolific Hans Zimmer, whose score for The Dark Knight Rises recently garnered a Grammy nomination. There's currently no word on whether or not any of the music composed by White will be included in the film. Zimmer previously worked with Verbinski on The Ring, Rango and the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise, so the fact that they're teaming up for yet another big blockbuster shouldn't be surprising. The Lone Ranger stars Armie Hammer, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Wilkinson and William Fichtner. The film is set to hit theaters July 3rd, 2013. Many thanks to Film Music Reporter for the heads up.

In other words is there no other music composers, I'm not saying anything bad about the man his TDK trilogy score is among the very best ever but the same thing happened with John Williams in the 70s and 80s then Danny elfman in the 90s and 00s where they are on nearly every major film.

I was actually looking forward to White's work on thisI mean, I'm a BIG fan of both Zimmer and White's work, and Zimmer has proven how brilliant he is in handling scores for movies, but I think White could present something...unique, and different.

But well, I just can't hate Zimmer, either. So, bring it.

When the most entertaining thing in the trailer is "Something very wrong with that horse..." color me apathetic. I'll wait for HBO (or Starz, more likely.)
