Thor and Jane Foster were still an item at the end of Thor: The Dark World, but by the time Avengers: Age of Ultron rolled around, it appeared their relationship was on the rocks. After defeating the villainous android, the God of Thunder started exploring the cosmos for answers about the Infinity Stones, and Jane was nowhere to be seen in Thor: Ragnarok.
She'll return in Thor: Love and Thunder, transforming into the Mighty Thor in the process.
However, some newly revealed set photos appear to confirm that we'll revisit Thor and Jane's past relationship. Both Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman can be seen wearing wigs that resemble how they looked in 2013's Thor: The Dark World; some fans believe they might even be shopping for an engagement ring, and it's been theorised that this could be what leads to the breaking up.
It's great to see that Taika Waititi is going to explore this part of MCU history, especially as it's bound to inform what we see in the present day. Whether romance is (back) on the cards for these two remains to be seen, but we're expecting the focus to be put on Jane wielding Mjolnir as Thor.
Thor: Love and Thunder arrives in theaters on July 8, 2022.
