The last time we saw Jaimie Alexander's Lady Sif, she was delivering the Power Stone to The Collector for safekeeping in Thor: The Dark World's post-credits scene. Aside from a cameo in Loki (where she was depicted as one of the God of Mischief's worst memories), the warrior has been M.I.A. ever since, leading to heaps of speculation about what she's been up to.
Had she been kidnapped? Sent on a secret mission? Would she be revealed as King Valkyrie's new love interest after failing to win Thor's heart?
The answer, unfortunately, is none of the above.
In Thor: Love and Thunder, the God of Thunder is hanging out with the Guardians of the Galaxy when they pick up a number of distress calls. One of them is from Sif, and in a video message, we very briefly see her asking Thor for help. He and Korg rush to provide aid to the Asgardian, and find her on the battlefield...missing an arm!
She talks about being left there to die so she can go to Valhalla, but Thor reminds Sif that she needed to die in the midst of battle for that to happen. We get a quick look at her comic book accurate costume before she's taken back to New Asgard and sent to the infirmary, and that's where she remains until the very end of the movie. Later, the one-armed warrior is shown training a character who could be a major new addition to this shared world (we'll be back with more details about them later).
That's it for Sif, and in total, she probably has less than a minute of screentime. This won't be what many fans were hoping for, of course, and it's not necessarily the best use of this character. On the plus side, she is now back in New Asgard and someone we'll hopefully see return to the forefront moving forward.
Thor: Love and Thunder is now playing in theaters!
