The enigmatic Jeff Goldblum will be entering the Marvel universe this November as the Grandmaster, an Elder of the Universe and ruler of the film's Planet Sakaar. The actor is known for his personality and dry sense of humor, something that director Taika Waititi wished to exploit in his portrayal of the character. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Goldblum revealed that a majority of his scenes were improvised at Waititi's suggestion, something that he found engaging and fun.

"When we first talked, [Waititi] said, 'I want you to do your particular version of this character without being comic-y or grandiloquent. I think you should do something that’s in your creative family tree. And also improvise.' He was very interested in improvisation. We came to all those scenes and riffed enjoyably for the time we had. I don’t know what’s gonna come out in the mix because we gave him a whole bunch of different choices, I’ll tell you that. He’s great. Taika Waititi gets 10 Goldblums out of a possible 10 Goldblums.”

The actor was also recently announced to be reprising his role of Dr. Ian Malcolm in the Jurassic Park franchise, this time in Jurassic World 2. Goldblum expressed his excitement to return as the "sassy" Malcolm, along with being a fan of direector J.A. Bayona's work. "Off I go in a few weeks to London, where they’ve been hard at work, and I’ll try to contribute something to the plate of dino-entertainment. I like my character. I think my character is a saucy, sassy man of some integrity and deep thinking. And of course, that whole world continues to be popular, slam-bang, top entertainment."

"I talked to the director, J.A. Bayona, over the phone. I enjoyed his movie The Impossible with Naomi Watts, and he’s something else[...]Even though some might say it’s popcorn-y entertainment (top-notch, of course), in our conversation he was very focused on the serious issues of greed as it oftentimes comes up in those movies, and the marvels of science and reason and the very fascinating point at which our species finds itself both in real life and in this imaginary world too."

Taika is a great, talented director! I really hope 'Thor: Ragnarok' will be great!

My most anticipated movie of the year.

@RagnarGolem - I think it's going to do just as well as GOTG V2... It feels like it has the same kind of buzz about it. Something the two previous Thor films didn't have. Probably because of the cast.

@Kman - I hope so. I really liked GOTG Vol 2 and I love all Taika Waititi movies, Thor is one of my favorite Marvel characters and I like the two previous movies. So, I'm really excited.

@Kman - If it means anything, the Ragnarok trailer has more views than any GotG2 trailer. Which usually translates to the box office in marvel's case.

Its awesome having him in the the MCU. I noticed that they are getting at least one OG actor for each MCU movie, with the exception of CW

Jeff Goldblum isn't a fantastic actor, but has a great personality and charisma.

This man deserves a GOLDEN GOLDBLUM award!
