Karl Urban On Skurge The Executioner's "Pact With The Devil" In THOR: RAGNAROK

Karl Urban teases that Skurge starts out as something quite different from what he eventually becomes in Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok. His role before Hela's invasion of Asgard also impacts Heimdall.

It seems that before Hela invades Asgard, Skurge the Executioner is already the guardian of the Bifrost, apparently replacing Idris Elba's Heimdall.  With Loki masquerading as Odin, he likely deemed it prudent to get rid of the all-seeing watcher of the main entry point into the Asgardian capital.

"
My character is operating the Bifrost device and suddenly Cate Blanchett walks through the Bifrost and I very astutely realized I either joined her or die.  So my character is a survivalist. The journey of Scourge is really ‘OK, now you made a pact with the devil and it comes with a price.’ That price is constantly upped through the movie and that is his journey."

In the trailer for Ragnarok, we seem Heimdall has vacated his post as Bifrost guardian and some fans have speculated that his bewildered look is a sign that he has a bit of amnesia. With Loki on the throne and impersonating Odin, it's likely Heimdall would be the only one capable of seeing through the disguise.

Also, what price do you think Skurge has to pay? Perhaps there's a certain Enchantress whose life hangs in the balance?

Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters this fall on November 3.

Since this movie is only 100 minutes long,do Skurge and Hela both die?

Interesting how they will handle the villains fate for this movie

@LordZero - I think there's a very good chance Skurge will bite it, but I think Hela can go either way. Though if speculation about her being Death is true we Death she'll be sticking around.

@LordZero - if they go the comics route with Skurge, yeah, he dead.
Hela, I don't know, she may be Death's replacement in Infinity War, or maybe not. and we also see her constantly kicking ass in the trailer, so she won't go down that easily.

@LordZero - hella wont die. apparently shes gonna substitute for lady death.

@LordZero - that runtime is my only concern for this movie. It seems jam packed with characters and plot lines, and I'd hate to see any of them not done justice as a result of the runtime.

@thunderpun573 - agreed the runtime ia my biggest concern as well. Also the 80% of the dialogue being improv i read somewhere. If im wrong let me know. However ive heard good things about Taikos other films so im optimistic.

@kallel - I love the first Thor.

I always feel compelled to defend that film on this site. It gets so much grief. I think it's great.

@TheManWithoutFear - Sometimes peoples expectations ruins their enjoyment.

The first one was funny, fun, great-looking (excellent costumes and special effects), exciting (outstanding battle/fight scenes), it gave us more of Phil Coulson than we had seen before, it was good to see Rene again, Lady Sif is always great to see, we got our first quick glimpse of Clint Barton/Hawkeye, I liked the feel the director gave it, and it gave us all we needed to know about Loki (and why everyone who loves him loves him) and Odin. And it gave us Thor. I love the film. The 3-D on it is pretty decent, also.

I'd gladly make a pact with Cate Blanchett.

They already spoiled what happens to him in the first trailer.

@blackandyellow - the Thor movies NOT stealing outright more from Simonson storytelling style / visuals and more is a damn shame....those are just classics. And while they did (possibly, as the movies can always change things) spoil his fate for the true comic geek, that's still a moment I'd love to see on the big screen.

@write33 - Agreed, I just wish they didn't put it in the damn trailer. Everyone who knows anything about Thor automatically recognized what was happening there.

@blackandyellow - I hear ya..... Sometimes, I'd guess, Marketing struggles with what to put in as Easter eggs for fans vs. giving away too much.....e.g. showing faces on the Collector's tower? I'd guess that's no plot point and just a fun thing for fans to be like, "Ooo look, Man-thing!"....but this is a bit of a big reveal if they follow the comics.

@Vigor - Magic. The answer is always magic.

@Vigor - hahaha same. It looks like Skurge acquires the weapons on Sakaar. Then he takes to Asgard. I could see them going with something along the lines of Grandmaster being an enjoyer of games and battle and liking to spice things up in combat. Maybe his cronies have acquired weapons from many worlds to include in the matches...earth weapons being among them.

@Dotanuki - spent empty shell case that flew up from below? His guns are moving up so it would match the motion.. but it does just appear out of nowhere lol

@Dotanuki - its definitely a shell casing or bullet of some kind.

FUN FACT!!
in the original norse god mythology. loki is Odins blood brother. loki made mjolnir, odins spear and some females sword (by the help of the Dwarfs).
SURTUR is an entity. he is chaos itself. nothing that thor, hulk OR ODIN could fight. he has no body.
Loki has 3 children. 1) wolf Fenrir, (who thor kills, but in the disney movie version, hulk fights him) 2) the serpent Jörmungandr, and 3) the female being Hel (kate blanchett). Jörmungandr kills Thor and visa versa, along with everyone else. in the end, the only thing remaining is MJOLNIR! and this repeats itself many times over. great book!!
