Massive Asgardian Set Being Built On Australia's Gold Coast For THOR: RAGNAROK

We've already seen a handful of photos from the set of Thor: Ragnarok, but the latest shots show just how massive Marvel's practical Asgard is going to be in the movie as they seemingly move away from CGI...

Asgard has always had a practical element to it in the Thor movies, but it appears as if director Taika Waititi will be taking that to the next level in Thor: Ragnarok. As you can see below, he's had a massive chunk of the God of Thunder's home constructed on Australia's Gold Coast, and while special effects will obviously build on that, this most definitely feels like a step in the right direction for the franchise.

Why has such a large chunk of Asgard been created with practical sets? Time will tell, but it's hard to imagine it being used for just a single scene in the movie. For all we know, this is where Hela marches her army into the realm, but if more photos like these surface, we'll get to find out whether or not that's the case soon enough. For now, feel free to weigh in with your thoughts and theories below.

Also starring Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba, Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, and Karl Urban, Thor: Ragnarok is set to be released on November 3rd, 2017.

@MrPositive - NAY! He deserves his own series of thor films and not as some throw away villian.

Thor 4: Ballad of Beta Ray Bill
Thor 5 :Children of Flame
Thor 6: The Twilight of the Gods

Filmed back to back like the hobbit and released over a few years

@MrPositive - Marvel Pictures and the gang have completely forgotten the might of Thor, I hope we get to see it in this movie. I certainly hope we get to Balder the brave and the other important Asgardians which have been missing in action so far.

@BackwardGalaxy - The thor franchise has the potential to continue after inifinty war and not be stuck in the trilogy type series. There is so many stories they can adapt. so many characters to introduce.

They can adapt stories with BRB, Enchantress, Balder, Surtur, Mangog, Ulik, Celestials, so on and so on.

Great! More practical!

We need to live in Asgard nore. TDW let us see Asgardian life a bit more but it still felt like something was missing. If it's gonna be destroyed somehow, or on the verge of destruction, we have to spend some more time there. Make it seem lived in and authentic in a way. I guess Alan Taylor was brought on for that reason, make Asgard seem like a "place."

I wish Asgard had a more RUSTIC AND RUGGED look sometimes. A little run down. A place that's AGED even though it's this serene heaven type locale almost. Maybe not run down, but a look similar to how it's portrayed in some old Viking mythology. Very stone like and old. Mysterious.

@ComicsBornAndBred - Those are beautiful, but we'll never see anything like that in the MCU - especially since this is the last Thor movie.
