The latest trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder ended with Zeus inadvertently stripping the God of Thunder down to his birthday suit. While Chris Hemsworth's posterior was blurred out, the expectation is that won't be the case in the movie itself (a PG-13 rating has confirmed that the blockbuster will include "partial nudity").
Needless to say, a lot of fans are excited about getting to watch that scene on the biggest screen possible. Doing the rounds to promote Lightyear, Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi revealed that it was an idea he had early in the writing process.
"We all knew we wanted to do it from very early on. That was in the first draft of the script actually and Chris was on board as well," the filmmaker explained in an interview with ComicBook.com. "You know, I think you have a body like Chris, like, you know, even he understands. It would be just, it would be a waste to not show it off."
"It would be a crime against humanity," Waititi continued. "So, you know, it's, you have to provide for the masses."
The reaction to the scene has shown how much the masses appreciate what Thor: Love and Thunder will deliver, and it does look to be a very funny moment in the Thor: Ragnarok follow-up.
Marvel Studios has done a great job keeping this blockbuster's biggest moments under wraps. While we anticipate more sneak peeks over the coming weeks (primarily TV spots based on past experience), something tells us the rest of this scene will, quite rightly, be saved for theaters.
How excited are you for this revealing Thor: Love and Thunder moment?
The movie finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.
Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.
Directed by Taika Waititi, the movie stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Russell Crowe, Jaimie Alexander, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, and Sean Gunn among others.
Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be released in theaters on July 8, 2022.
