THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER Stars Karen Gillan And Pom Klementieff Have Already Finished Shooting Their Roles

It appears the Guardians of the Galaxy might have a minor role in Thor: Love and Thunder, as Karen Gillan (Nebula) and Pom Klementieff (Mantis) have already finished shooting their scenes for the movie.

Perhaps this was to be expected, but it's looking like the Guardians of the Galaxy won't have a particularly significant role in Thor: Love and Thunder. At the end of Avengers: Endgame, the God of Thunder joined the team (dubbing them the "Asgardians of the Galaxy"), but it makes sense for the hero to leave them behind in order to team up with Jane's Foster's Mighty Thor to take on Gorr the God Butcher.

Both Karen Gillan (Nebula) and Pom Klementieff (Mantis) have shared photos on their Instagram stories confirming that they're leaving Australia, which obviously means they're done with Thor: Love and Thunder.

It is, of course, possible that one or two members of the team will have slightly bigger roles; Rocket's unexpected friendship with Thor proved to be a highlight in Avengers: Endgame, so it would be no bad thing for him to stick around for a while (Groot also clearly enjoyed hanging out with the Thunder God).

It will be up to James Gunn to continue the team's story in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, so their role here is likely just to get Thor where he needs to be for what looks set to be an epic battle against Gorr. That villain is set to be played by Christian Bale, but he hasn't made his way to Australia yet as the actor was recently spotted in Los Angeles shooting David O. Russell's next movie with Margot Robbie.

That could mean Gorr is just a voice role, with the villain brought to life via mo-cap and VFX.

We'll keep you updated!

Guessing they will be there at the start, go away and maybe show up again before the end

Still think they'll appear at the start during a mission with Thor, only for him to part ways with them afterwards.

After their great chemistry I'm still kinda bummed that he won't be a full time member by GotG3

@Blergh - Makes 100% sense. The rest of the film can dedicate itself to the remaining Asgardian fighters and them dealing with Bale's character.

I'm calling it now, 80% of Mantis' screentime is photobombs.

She deserves her own Disney+ series.

@Spock0Clock - You missed one, when Cap and Thor quickly swap weapons during the end battle (You have the little one), you can see Mantis behind them using her sleep powers on one of the big brutes to bring it down. I love that.

Can't find the gif but here it is in video

Guessing they're just there for a cold open. With Thor already having Valkyrie, Korg, Miek, Jane, Sif and hopefully Beta Ray Bill as side characters, I never expected the Guardians to stay on for long.

Probably makes sense- after all, this is a Thor movie.

The Guardians of the Galaxy are looking for something for Thor, so he can beat Gorr. They bring him back the item to defeat Gorr at the end of the film.
